Any group doesn't take much to speed up, good lord, these are all supposedly the cream of the crop athletes we are recruiting. You got high school teams going no huddle, getting in and out of the huddle, in less time than we do.

We should throw our name into the hat here. Ty Goodwill, Mister Clark or Jahmal Shelby for our vacant Nickel position. I'm with whoever @Memnon wants. We could also move Zechariah Poyser to Nickel and go get a starting Safety to pair with Bryce Fitzgerald. Whatever the case we still need to replace what Jakobe Thomas brought to the table this year in terms of versatility, physicality and overall big play ability from one of the Safety spots. Bryce Fitzgerald is our ballhawk Safety and it will be very interesting to see where both Dylan Day and Cam Pruitt are in terms of their development. Maybe either of them could backup at Nickel. Love the potential of Camden Portis and Jontavious Wyman to play Nickel in Hetherman's system but I would rather not rely on a True Freshman at Nickel given all of the responsibility that position has in this defense. Chris Ewald has been mentioned before as well but he seems a bit too small for my liking(pause). Give Ewald another year to get bigger and stronger before trying him at Nickel. I love where we are in the secondary in terms of depth and potential options. It's night and day compared to a year ago. We still need to build more depth at Safety and Nickel but we are on our way. I really wanted Blake Stewart as I saw him as a potential difference maker from day 1 but do not underestimate Cortez Redding and JJ Dunnigan. Those 2 are versatile and they can play. Can't wait to see what we have here in the Spring.
And I'll never understand why. Like @k9cane said recently, we're not asking to go Art Briles circa 2014 here. We're just asking to incorporate tempo into our offense as a tool to be used to our advantage in certain situations. When we are the more talented team you want to run more plays than the opposition not less. You want to lengthen the game not shorten it.
I agree with you but ONLY when you are taking deep shots and thus hitting under 50%. So you're going to 3 and out a few times before nailing one. Miami doesn't take deep shots very often so they lack explosives and thus scoring on short drives. With Beck they're trying to sustain drives and the penalties kill that.
