Pay or develop. Bottom line. Point blank.

Develop and the local community will support the guys. Happens everywhere. Problem with Miami, our support is so unorganized they get caught easier plus UM is always being watched.

There are school doing very well with no game game in place and where it snows 4 months a year.

Even if we threw bags out right now, not sure what it would cost to get guys to stay through some of the nonsense that's been going on at UM for almost a decade.

Save the bags. Invest is QUALITY coaches! Others schools are paying to brings players in. We already go them in our backyard.

I agree wholeheartedly with getting a staff who can coach them up and develop the talent we do land. The pay for play scheme has gone on since forever. Biggest difference is that talented players are at a premium and there are certain schools who seem to have an unlimited budget when it comes to this sort of thing, which puts us at a huge disadvantage recruiting wise. Many of the higher rated kids in South Florida use Miami has a bargaining chip to raise the ante with other schools. No one commits to UCF to get more out of the Bamas and Ohio State's of the world. Miami has to be able to sift through this and figure out early who's in and who's not, and go from there. That, I think is the ultimate battle in recruiting down here.

GO CANES!!!

Miami will never get back to the mountain top unless they're willing to ante up and pay these kids the going rate, or develop the 3 & 4-star kids who do sign here.

In addition, we've got to do a better job of identifying who the top kids are and offer them early in the process. We can't continue to have situations like Battle, Rosemy, etc. and expect them to be loyal to us when we're giving them the cold shoulder. Battle wanted to commit but we held him off too long, and by the time he was a take it was too late. Ohio St and Alabama had already gotten involved.

At the end of the day, IF we can win and develop we will be fine. We won't get them all, but we will get our fair share.

Win. Recruit. Develop.

GO CANES!!
Evaluate, evaluate, evaluate. Early and often. There are enough kids we can get locally to be competitive with anyone, but like your battle example shows, if we think we can wait and see, we will keep getting fleeced. Our only differentiated resources is local talent. We maximize there byusi;g our proximity to evaluate early and build relationships early.

Miami has to win! There will be no reason to sift through the bs cause players will actually see the benefit to attending UM for the next 3-5 years. The problem now is even if a top player is interested, midway through the season they see the writing on the wall. Certain schools have to pay. They dont have the local talent or fun atmosphere to attract players. UM can and has gotten quality players to commit and sign. Everyone is the country wanted AR82. But he signed with us. Nick Saban hopped on a helicopter and flew to see Gurvan Hall first out of everyone he could and he still signed with us. It's possible but we have to give players a reason to come, aside from being the school Sean Taylor went to ( and I mean no disrespect to the great ST26 but I fear the day when some of these kids have no idea who our great even are).

Unfortunately for us, it's not a myth. Bag men in college football are as real as death and taxes.

That said, I agree 100% with "Coaching matters."
Im sure the Sec schools have slush funds for recruiting upwards of 2-3 mil a year divided by 20-25 recruits
The ncaa just turns a blind eye and let’s them get away with it....

Here is the kicker....UM has TWO defensive tackles leave early as 4th and 7th round picks....while clemson somehow keeps 4 first rounders in school for a senior year! How the **** is that possible????

I get what you're saying. Trust me, I do. However, since you mentioned AR82, let's take him for example. Like many kids down here, he doesn't come from an impoverished, under-privileged home situation. Unfortunately, a lot of kids come from a rough up bringing. That money bag can make a world of difference for them and their families. Winning will certainly help with some kids, but there are many others who will take the money and run. And to be honest, I can't blame them for doing it. The money being thrown around is mind-boggling. When a kid is being offered $100k+ to attend their school, that many times is the difference between them staying home or going away to play. Some people will sell their mothers for less than that.

Miami needs to develop .... a first class bag program.
I’m pretty sure Manny’s dad being a democratic mayor of a major city can give him plenty of pointers on how to set up some shady dealings that Manny can take advantage of in the recruiting world! At least that’s what I am hoping!
