Some friends are big Big 12 guys. I mentioned UM having interest in Patterson as its new coach. They looked at each other like I was being ridiculous, like what I'm about to say is common knowledge in Big 12 country. I'm told that much of TCU's boosters are big oil, and they make sure Patterson isn't going anywhere by including him on certain drilling deals. If he leaves he can be cut out of those deals. Obviously there is no way of knowing if this is true, and admittedly my friends don't know for sure if it's true, but if it is, Patterson isn't going to be Miami's new coach.

Everybody knows he isn't leaving tcu. That's his program. He is in his early 60s now and has been there 17 year. He will retire there.

It's not dissimilar to the Papa John deal with Peyton Manning.

Dude was being offered comparable $$$ when he was shopping his services after Indy. But once the Pizza investment deal was paired with Denver and John Elway, Peyton Manning became a Bronco. To this day, Peyton reaps record mad profits from his hands-off ownership of these Pizza joints throughout the Colorado area.

I live in TX and have many friends that are TCU alumni. This is what I've heard. He is making a lot more than his salary as HC.

SO I'M JUST GOING TO ASSUME THAT THE OP DOESN'T KNOW THAT PATTERSON DID
INTERVIEW FOR THIS JOB BACK IN 06 AND WE CHOSE RANDY INSTEAD.

Yall can be smart asses all you want. Gary patterson is not leaving tcu. Texas was open and he didn't pursue that job in a state he knows and would have been able to get better players there than tcu.
