Patricia Whitely suspended AQM

Nice straw man there chef. No one is saying a rapist or a gun violator shouldn't be punished. A fight at college should be a 2-3 game suspension at most. **** you guys go from one extreme to the other.

You don't know any details of the fight.

She sounds like an absolutely lovely woman, its no wonder we suck at football, we want a bunch of choir boys

I love the hyperbole. Choir boys. Is it too much to ask that football players just avoid rapes and fights and guns?

even the NFL doesn't suspend players an entire season for simple assault against a man, give him 2, 4, 6 games...but an entire season for a fight? Seriously? talk about overkill

FOLLOW THE CODE OF CONDUCT. did you attend Miami? if you did, you would know what happens when you violate the rules on campus. View attachment 25468

This was his 1st Offense, and yet he misses an Entire season and semester, that seems legit. He's a 17-18 yr old student who made a mistake

If other non-athlete students would get suspended from the university for a semester, then so should he. As for the nonsense about what the NFL does or doesn't do, who cares? This isn't the NFL, it's a COLLEGE football team. He's a student. He's enrolled in the university. He has to abide by the rules for students.

How is she fair when you admitted she puts students above athletes?

athletes are students and she is fair bc she didnt give any preferential treatment. she followed the rules and gave the punishment she felt necessary. she didnt put a student athletes needs over another student. thats actually being fair and if you ever attended a school, you would hope the school treats everyone fairly, as well.

I wonder if the other party involved got physical at all, and if he will also be suspended the semester. Or is it the situation where the winner of the fight gets punished regardless of who is the aggressor.

the other student graduated in the spring. for the people saying, why couldnt he be removed for the summer semester. i suppose it may have been harder to get kids to come down during the summer break and testify. most kids dont take summer classes at miami since its full price per credit (1500 per credit hour when i was there = about 5k each class) and that may have delayed witness testimony regarding the fight.

A bunch of posts on this thread are just pathetic. AQM breaks his roommate's nose... AQM says it was self-defense... witnesses interviewed say something else (read: not self-defense).

I'm guessing many of you don't receive the alumni magazine because you didn't attend UM, so let me help you. Pat Whitely is one of the most beloved administrators in the history of the U. She is honest and fair (I speak from personal experience), and yes she puts the U's students above the U's football team... as it should be.

Hopefully AQM learns from this and comes back. Glad he hasn't lost any eligibility. I'm sure the coaching staff is upset... jobs can hinge on wins and losses. But that doesn't mean anyone in Student Affairs mishandled the situation.

Guess how I know you're ***?

I think it's a pretty fair conclusion to make that he will be transferring by the end of the season. He gets in a fight, the "trial" gets delayed til the other guy graduates leaving only AQM to get punished. Instead of losing summer semester for a fight in the spring, he loses fall and the entire football season. I'd be livid if I was AQM.

Yep, UM football needs AQM more than AQM needs Miami...I bet Golden is ****ed

It is hard to say since we don't know any of the details. With respect to the NFL, should AQM make it into the League, better he learn his lesson now when lost gameday paychecks usually amount to six figures $$.

The term "Student-Athlete" includes "student", and there is a student code of conduct. When he puts on his helmet he can be the baddest SOB he wants, but when he is off the field, he is a student just like the rest. Obviously, your kid wasn't the roommate involved.

The term "Student-Athlete" at big football schools like UM is just bulls**t. When STUDENTS start bringing in the same amount of money the football program does then maybe we can say they are on par with each other.

In capitalism there is one golden rule (excuse the pun)....Never ***** with the money. When you ***** with the money, heads roll. Messing with the athletes is messing with the money. Poor product on the field.....same thing. which is why Golden must be feeling the heat. Even the great Steve Spurrier had to bend over and eat crow after calling out Clowney last year.

I know as much as you. From all appearances this seem a bit over board. You have to admit that. Had law enforcement been called in then all bets are off, but they weren't.

Exactly. It's the OVER REACTION that's so typical of UM. They're scared to death of any BAD PUBLICITY. And guess what? They get it ANYWAY.

So what would you say about other universities who are suspending there players 1-2 games for getting charged with felonies breaking beer bottles over peoples heads or getting in bar fights. But AQM gets into a fight with one person no charges and he gets suspended the whole semester? That makes sense to you? You must be part of the rowing squad. Or maybe the golf team?

This new breed of student at UM is ******* sickening. Buncha ***** *** ***golas, worried about fair play. All the while you probably work your 45k a year job late doing your bosses work while he gets smashed at happy hour and your wife ***** the pool boy. There's about 4 porsters in this thread that I would have gladly been kicked out of UM if I had the opportunity to smashed their faces in. This school and this program is dead, and its pussifed ******* like those defending this whitely ***** who killed it. **** yall.

The whole point of my "calm down" post was that some folks on this board were saying some pretty ugly things about PW. They woman is fair and she is just doing her job. What makes sense to me is to give her the benefit of the doubt. Believe me, she cheers on our football team just as much as anyone else. But she isn't going to give any kid a free allotment of broken noses before the rules of the school apply simply because he plays football.

We criticize UF and other schools when they look the other way. Let's not be hypocrites.
