Pate is still a believer

He said we would beat GT and UNC so let’s see how he does Sat.

Idk that’s there’s a way to stomach this season after the GT loss. No matter what happens. Let’s break this down by record.

5-7 - missed a bowl game bc you didn’t take a knee

6-6 - you could’ve been 7-5 and two games better than last year. Yes you suck but it’s still a step forward

7-5 - 8 wins sounds so much better than 7 and a chance to get to 9 in a bowl

8-4 - 9 wins is a giant leap forward after last year. Bowl game to get to 10 wins, which is a massive deal

9-3 - You could’ve won 10 which is elite company at Miami and only done once in 2 decades. Depending on the other teams, that loss could’ve kept you out of the ACC champ game.

10-2 - (not happening it’s just for the exercise) You blew your chance at 11-1 and an ACC title shot. That would have given automatic legitimacy to Mario being the head man here. And cements Miami as a future contender.

Agree with this, you can’t lose a game like that and just wash it away, it sticks with you like a fungus but…..

(I think 10-2 gets you into the ACCCG) *ducks*

There's no reason not to "believe" Miami can't beat a watered-down Clemson team (in comparison to what they've been) simply because of a choke job against Georgia Tech and getting beaten by a very good North Carolina team (when losing the turnover battle 4-0).

He nailed it in this piece; talking about all the talents of the Canes he believed in still being there—and now you can't be like wishy-washy fans or commentators)—high on a team one week, doing about face because they lost week later and then back on board when they win again.

This was always a 9-3 / 8-4 kind of team this year—with 10-2 the absolute ceiling if everything went well... and when seeing how UM **** the bed against the Yellow Jackets, or the nine turnovers the past two days... everything ain't going well in serendipitous fashion this year.

Clean up the turnovers and Miami could be 6-0 right now—and worst 5-1 with the boneheaded non-kneel—but zero reason to think that Miami can't bounce back against Clemson if it protects the football.

On paper you’re right, this team should be able to beat a Clemson team that has seemingly fallen back to earth. However, this game is not played on paper.

I think you are underestimating the ways in which this team can still disappoint everyone. We never do well against teams that are well coached and have equal or better talent throughout the roster.

This game is a loss until proven otherwise. It’s a question of how many points do we lose by. Is it a blowout by the 3rd similar to UNC? Or is it a heartbreaker like GT?

I will gladly eat crow. Let’s hope you’re the one to serve it up to me.
