Pate absolutely on fire

I don't mind Pate at all. He's one of the more entertaining and least abrasive pundits out there and provides good humor. He genuinely has good takes --- some hot and some not so hot.

Does he get predictions wrong? Yes, he's also not shy about admitting it either. I can't find one single pundit that got ANY predictions correct last year....like if predictions from pundits really ******* matter anyway. It's all just an opinion.

They did beat Clemson in the playoffs in 2024, when Clemson completely backdoored into the playoff by winning the ACC after going 9-3 in the regular season.

And then they did beat Arizona State in another close game when they were a massive favorite. So I guess he's won something resembling a close game, but I'd be fully confident playing Texas in the playoffs.

I still listen to Pate weekly during the season but he really doesn’t take a lot of stands he talks in platitudes most of the time just saying could be this could be that.

I’m not a Pate fan but I agree: I cannot listen to Klatt due to the plot lines and bias.

For National pods my current rotation is cover 3, Solid Verbal and the Audible.

I would love to play Oregon in the playoffs as we have not played Oregon since December 5th 1958! This was also the only meeting ever between these 2 programs and the final score of that game(which was played in the Orange Bowl) was 2-0 Miami.

I would also love to play USCw since we haven't played the Trojans in football since October 5th 1968!

Yeah, I've been wanting to play USC for decades since it would just be a lot of fun.

Now, I just want to beat the crap out of Oregon to shut them up.
 
Pate is going through the metamorphosis that Metallica went through circa 1991 with the release of the black album. They put less and less emphasis on what made them awesome in the beginning - angry, gritty and heavy-riffed music - for ballads and MTV videos all in the name of the All Mighty Dollar. I was hoping Pate would hold out and stay Indy as long as possible.

The fact that it's ESPN gobbling him up makes me nauseous. I think Pate had/has (?) good honest takes, admits when he was wrong and generally tries to apply common sense to a sport that doesn't seem to use much common sense. He wasn't afraid to speak out against the traditional guard. I'm curious to see how much of that gets reeled in by the Worldwide Leader. They're the driving force behind ruining college football, among other things related to sports. I just hate them (ESPN) so much.
 
All pundits - are sources. Every single one seems to have a few nuggets of information or observation that they share.

Pick out the nuggets - that's where the real benefit is - and you can make predictions for yourself.

A partial set of variables - which is the very best they can provide - isn't sufficient to make reliable long term projections.

Polaroid, IBM, Kodak - they never saw it coming. There were nuggets right there, but their set of variables was either incomplete, or violated their preferred outcomes.

It's all about the entertainment! Enjoy!
