Pat Fitzgerald/Northwestern implosion

Anyone know why Fitzgerald only one fired? Was he only Coach there during hazing??
I’m dying to know how after a 6 month investigation the president Gave a 2 week summer suspension then after further reporting went public went to axe the coach

something is wrong there at the leadership level period unless some good explanation comes out. bet their board of trustees is wondering too as the school gets dragged.

And major props to the student journalists. Talk all some of you want about reporters but good reporting is essential.

As a former football player.....

ive seen hazing similar to this. Even in hs in south florida...not detailed like this but sort of getting on the jv kids...hitting the lights play jumping them...BUT.........

I always side eyed the guys that did the dry hump bizness.

Also...football team has like 80+ players their is unequivocally some Alphabet members on every team i played on..none that were out n about ...but the actions n rumors always showed.
Had a big nose tackle who always wanted to wrestle n play fight...then all of a sudden he was buddy buddy with the dude next dorm from me who i suspected was PAUSE from the way he talked n mannerisms.

I dont know if yall saw the clip from Jalen Green with the houston rockets and another nba player from their high school time..sh*t be weird in the locker room i tell ya. But this seems a bit over the top...and was likely a power play by an alphabet boy who started this particular hazing tradition.

Whats crazy is....Not 1 of the freshman threw hands with the upper classmen. This is 1 thing KNOWN about Florida players.....if u haze us on some disrespectful stuff prepare for a fight. This happens in the big 10 alot...Micah Parsons an them Penns tate guys did this same stuff a few years ago it didnt blow up as much though for whatever reason...but they did it to psu legacy kid who appeared to get ptsd from it.

Tell u what i woulda been throwing hands n took my chances. My freshman yr they were about to try the hazing of shaving heads...they got a few of the guys but some of us teamed up walked together chilled in dorms together n let them know we gonna fight them if they tried it...it got back to coaches n safe to say i still had braids.

The most we would do in HS was to bring someone in the wrestling room, hit the lights, and play jump them. The one getting jumped had just as much fun as the ones doing the jumping cause you just start swinging and see how many ppl you connect with lol

This might be viewed poorly but I’ll say two things.

As someone that’s been on a collegiate sports team and undergone acts of hazing…it’s really supposed to be more about team camaraderie and bonding than it is punishment. I’ve undergone various drinking challenges, group activities, whatever you want to call it…and yet 95% of it was honestly pretty fun. Some kids didn’t drink on my team and the people in charge of said hazing event would either have them do other activities or drink O’douls (non-alcoholic beer). It was almost like an initiation of sorts, and then afterwards we’d all get hammered and you felt part of something bigger than yourself. Had maybe 3-4 events throughout our freshman year specifically targeted at us, then you’re “one of the guys”.

Now there’s times where it gets a bit over the top (you’re in college, I mean c’mon), but it was usually nipped in the butt immediately. I’m not going to speak on behalf of what happened at NW or any other universities, but the term hazing has a very negative connotation today (and rightfully so for the most part considering issues that have occurred at various Greek Life houses/orders).

Personally, the article really didn’t seem that bad. It’s worded much stronger than the actual allegations entail (consider the source as well, it’s Northwestern). I’ve heard of things 10x worse at fraternities or sororities across the country. The headline is incredibly misleading, but I do agree if someone refuses to take part in an event, that’s their right. No need to force it.

Curious to see what happens. Also I don’t think Fitzgerald is involved - I know he’s ultimately responsible for his players and their actions, but (for example) our coach had no idea what was being done outside of practice/games other than a couple parties here and there if we won.

Dude on here condoning dry hump molestation.

Cool story bro.

Stick to recruiting.

Facts they did that to all the kids in HS year one except me and my boy. Weird *** sh they be doing. If team bonding means u get to bully me nah bruh. I wish someone would of but I always found that sh weird.

It's one thing to be skeptical on an individual basis.

It's another thing to try to compare the "ONE" first person who comes forward (usually the hardest role) with some self-interested "letters of support" from the teammates who did the hazing, and then arrive at a conclusion that blames the media for reporting on a story that is just beginning.

Sometimes the numbers are misleading and the press is actually doing its job.

If some people want to "wait" to judge the facts, maybe they should also "wait" to judge the first accuser and the media too.
He said nothing declaring a conclusion. And he's absolutely correct that the first news out often gets updated.

Little mention of the letter supplied by a large group of NU players denying the allegations and supporting Fitz. Not juicy enough to create clicks/news.

The ALLEGED activities from ONE player is headline news. I certainly don’t condone the ALLEGED activities by ONE player but in today’s 24/7 incessant news cycle, this type of story generates clicks/viewers and circumvents the order of law - innocent until proven guilty.

They got any DTs CBs or WR worth taking

I looked. Maybe some raise the floor guys at the top of their roster.

They've stunk stunk for a while now. They've had some good draft picks of late on the OL...but think this was the year that well ran dry, because they've stunk. Especially on offense...just...always bad.

They got a nice pair of MLB, but they are more of a good ol tough midwestern linebacker type. ymmv on those types. Several Northwestern outlets think the guy I think gogeta mentioned Najee Story could be a guy at DT, but I havent seen him play. They have a guy on the OL named Zach Franks that is supposed to be the next man up on the OL (former Penn State commit...these two teams know good OL). They got a solid veteran RT.

idk...I'm sure you could pluck a few if they aren't into wearing purge masks and sexually assaulting their teammates now that the nation has told them it is no longer acceptable to do so.

The linebackers are probably the best talent they have one the team, but they are upperclassman. I hazard against taking any Northwestern upperclassman because of the scandal
