Past Clearing house issues

Shalala was the problem with our football program. She destroyed the program from within. It no coincidence that all of sudden their is money for coaches, practice facilities and kids are getting in with less issues. Where Tad Foote failed she succeeded in bring down the house the Howard and jimmy built.

You can't be this stupid. Then again, the typical Miami "Fan" believes these irrational theories of how the University itself is run. Miami chased after Richt after Coker and Shannon and was rebuffed both times. Dr. Shalala wasn't a dictator, she reported to the BOT, who had the power to do what needed to be done. Even if she wanted to destroy the program(Which she didn't), the BOT could put the kibosh on that in a heartbeat.

With Richt finally coming aboard, it made it easier for the athletically inclined members of the BOT to stand up and ask for the support they should have been asking for years before. The Adidas contract helped a ton in regards to revenue, and for the first time in a decade, Miami had a legit coach with a legit track record to support. If Miami would have ended up with yet another midmajor guy, or a retread, I don't know if the money would have flowed as freely. With a guy like Richt, investing in the program is seen as a safer investment, compared to investing in a career assistant(Shannon), or a midmajor guy who was a questionable fit(Golden).

Actually, stupid would be believing Shalala had nothing do to with the last 15 years of mediocrity, the bulldozing of the Ole Girl, and the complete freeze on facility upgrades as the rest of the college football world blew by....it was just a coincidence I'm sure that her tenure started when Butch Davis was denied a buy out and Coker was selected, and only after she left was a coach like Richt nailed down.

The real question since your so certain she was serious about paying up for Richt instead of Coker or Shannon is why she didn't pony up equivalent bucks for an equivalent level coach? Because the BOT forced her into mediocrity in the AD huh? Lol

99.9999% of this has to be done by the athlete along with his high school guidance counselor and other peeps in the high school.

I know this because I know the exact process that it takes to become qualified as a cleared athlete. It's actually not that complicated.

All PSAs register on the NCAA eligibility center website early in their high school careers and are reminded frequently what tasks they need to complete and what the requirements are. Only when there is a major problem close to or after HS graduation is really when the college athletic dept could help to any extent.

While the kids are still in high school, it's really up to him with the help of his high school guidance and athletic office to keep things up to date with the NCAA. That's how it's supposed to work.

Once again, Dr. Shalala, like every other University President isn't a dictator, they report to a board of people that can and will fire them if they aren't doing their job. Dr. Shalala, like every other University President is responsible for academic fundraising, for providing an overall direction for the University. Yes, you'll see the University President on the stage when a National Championship trophy is given out, but they had little, if anything to do with that accomplishment. The BOT is where the power lies, the BOT are the ones that didn't put Dee out to pasture, because members of the BOT felt that the way Miami had won in the eighties was more than enough in a fast changing athletics landscape.

Lmfao, ok...whatever.

While I speak reality, you speak of ideal structure and University flow charts. If it makes you feel better to believe poor little Clintonite Shalala was powerless, pushed around by the big bad BOT who ordered her to minimize athletic spending on coaching, facilities, etc...I have all kinds of land to sell ya.

Now that Joe Casale is semi-retired from his lucrative law practice, he has much more time to tutor UM recruits (like he did with Hester).
