Unsurprisingly, there are some weird reactions to UNC loss.

Under appreciated:

1. Worst OL in history! Our OL was much much better, with two freshman playing rock solid. We saw real coaching and improvement in a week.

2. Special Teams -- it has been so bad for so long that we just accept it. UM should NEVER be below average in ST, let alone terrible. Miss you badgley.

Overreaction:

1. Our D Coord. Is terrible!
Look the 4th and 17 call was terrible. But the 1st TD is on Bandy. He jumps routes all the time and he got burned. It happens. It was a bad game but I can't go there yet.

2. The D has too much talent to not be better! Do they? The problem is this D has lots of pretty good players. No great ones. Garvin benefitted a lot from playing opposite Chad Thomas. Gerald Willis covered up a LOT of sins. What upperclassman is getting drafted? Maybe 2? We have lots of solid players, but ZERO studs.

We’ve gotta calm down with this 4th and 17 thing. Yes, it was awful. But talk about armchair quarterbacking, my god. Manny (and baker) are aggressive defensive coaches. It burned them. It happens a decent amount. But some of you are acting like he put defensive tackles at safety or put 11 guys in the box. What would you rather have done? If they’d have rushed 3 and played umbrella coverage with 8 and Howell found an open man after zero pass rush, you’d all be crying that the defense wasn’t aggressive enough.

To me, the call didn’t get there. The blitz wasn’t timed perfectly and they picked it up. But I’d much rather get beat doing what I do best rather than being someone I’m not. These dudes are aggressive. I’m sure if they had the play back they’d have called something different. But there were 20 other plays in the game that, had Miami capitalized, they don’t need a 4th and 17 stop. How bout you make an extra point? Let’s start there. How bout you score more than 10 points on THREE goal to go situations in the 2nd quarter. The 4th and 17 was backbreaking but there’s gotta be other stuff to talk about that impacted the game as well.
 
Manny has a tendency to act like he’s the smartest guy in the room. Always needing to be crafting with **** blitzes and stunts when there are times we should really just focus on lining up and hitting folks in the mouth....or just calling basic blitzes and packages.

He gets cute. It’s always been an issue with his defense. Feast or famine.

On 4th and 17 - he got cute and he got burned.

And on the other side, Enos gets cute with drive-stalling play calling.
