Sooo Rivals talked to Gibson as he was leaving and he told them he thought about committing. Said Miami moved to the top of his list. Really enjoyed the visit. Is going to take the rest of his visits and make a decision end June- July.

sounds like Canes are in a good spot. One of his visits is to Auburn so Likens will have to really stay on him.

- The highest-ranked recruit to make his way down to South Florida this weekend was Fort Worth (Texas) Brewer five-star defensive lineman Bear Alexander, who told InsideTheU Sunday that Miami really did feel like Paradise. In terms of making his way down here, the 6-foot-3, 325-pounder said he wanted to open things back up and that Jess Simpson had been on him hard since making his way back down to Miami after a couple years with the Atlanta Falcons.

Manny Diaz and the rest of the coaching staff made a strong impression on him, as did Brown, who he said talked to him about committing and playing his college ball down in Dade County.

Alexander made the trip with his dad and girlfriend and admitted that both of them really loved it down here. Oregon, USC and Alabama are a few others expected to get defender on campus this summer.

- Lee was expected to take multiple visits this summer even after committing to the Hurricanes in late May, but he's completely shut it down after spending the weekend in Miami and no longer plans to take trips. Lee wouldn't say who but did say that Miami will land two guys that were on an official visit this weekend. He said the Miami staff was "electrifying" and that the city and school is everything that he wants. He also noted a closer bond with Brown and some of the other guys now that he was able to meet them in person. Talking of the non-committed group of guys, Lee got the feeling that those guys had a great time at Miami this weekend.

- Bellevue (Neb.) West four-star tight end Kaden Helms made his way down from Nebraska for an official visit this weekend and the blue-chipper admitted that he’s going home feeling much better about Miami than he did coming in. Something that stood out to the 6-foot-5, 222-pounder was that even when the coaches were not around, the players were talking up the program and saying positive things about it to him. Will Mallory was his host and said

He also hit it off with Stephen Field and Manny Diaz in a way he didn’t expect. He was watching tape with Stephen Field about the way they use tight ends and he said he knows that they know how to use players at his position down in Coral Gables.

- Winter Garden West Orange Top247 wide receiver Jayden Gibson enjoyed his Miami visit and it sounded like his parents did too. He got a chance to meet Rhett Lashlee, Rob Likens and those guys and he feels like they’re genuine people, which is what he says he’s looking at in this process. He also hit it off with a bunch of the Miami players, including his host Xavier Restrepo. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder said he was able to learn a lot of positive things about Miami and the staff through those guys. Jacurri Brown has been adamant about landing Gibson and he believes Brown is a really good dude and a great football player.

Gibson spent time in Gainesville earlier this month and the Gators hold the 247Sports Crystal Ball lead. He says he’s comfortable around that staff and that program, but he wants to continue to work through his visits. Baylor and Tennessee are next on his list of official visits.

- The recruiting process is still a little new to Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County offensive lineman Falentha Carswell. He started picking up offers in May, one coming from UM, and told InsideTheU Sunday morning that he felt at home at UM. Word coming out of the visit was that Carswell really impressed with the way he looked and that Miami is excited about him if they were to add him to the class. Fellow Georgian Jakai Clark hosted the 6-foot-7, 275-pounder and the two hit if off. Garin Justice made a big impression on the lineman, as did the rest of the coaching staff. Oregon will get him on campus later this month.

- Buford (Ga.) Top247 athlete Isaiah Bond was at one point considered the Miami lean, but sources have indicated that his family had some concerns about sending their son down to the city of Miami, but sources have indicated that Miami did a great job easing the family about Coral Gables and how their son would be in good hands with them. Keyshawn Smith hosted the state champion speedster and the two hit it off.

Brown, who visited with Bond earlier this year, was also in the Florida commits ear and it sounds like the Hurricanes have given him more to think about. The Texas official visit may be scratched from his plans, but he will be officially visiting Alabama next weekend.

- Miami seems to have made a move with Plantation American Heritage Top247 cornerback Jacolby Spells, who said he hadn’t seen Miami the way he did this weekend since his freshman year of high school and that made an impression on him after experiencing everything. He really hit it off with Jacurri Brown and Quan Lee with those guys constantly in his ear about committing. Though Spells is a South Florida native, he really enjoyed his time hanging around the city and spending time with those guys.

Spells had a good time at West Virginia during his official visit, citing that it’s something “different” than what he’s accustomed to here in South Florida. The Mountaineers should be viewed as a real player in the recruitment. An unofficial visit to Georgia is coming Tuesday before an official visit to Indiana next weekend. A commitment is coming on August 1.

- Pitt got the first official visit from Orlando Boone offensive lineman Leyton Nelson, but it’s safe to say that Miami made a bigger impression on him after speaking with him Sunday. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder said that Miami really felt like Paradise and him and his family really enjoyed their time. Garin Justice has done a good job building some rapport with the lineman, so there was a natural comfort. Nelson felt like Miami definitely helped themselves this weekend as he works closer towards a commitment. An unofficial visit to Utah is on the books, as is a southeast college tour before his next official visit to Louisville. A commitment could be coming in early to mid-July.

- Manvel (Texas) linebacker Justin Medlockgot to spend a lot of time around fellow Houston native and linebacker Corey Flagg, which showed him that he can come down to South Florida and play. Meeting Jonathan Patke and feeling that he was the same guy that he has spoken with on the phone since offering and that was a big deal for him too. Medlock doesn’t have any other official visits planned, but he’s sorting through some options and hopes to get to multiple other places.

- It feels like Oregon is in the driver's seat for Duncanville (Texas) four-star offensive lineman Cameron Williams, who is fresh off a trip to Eugene. He admitted Sunday that the Ducks and Sooners are probably standing out at this stage. He also has an official visit to Texas that could potentially shake things up.

I selfishly need at least one to pop but pre commitments that sounds really promising. It may have seemed like a slam dunk on the hosts but we’ve had complete morons running the show on the past who would have ***d that up.

Let's drop the man his bag and get him on board.

Positive news per usual but no sign of a commitment which is okay. Doesn't sound like the staff is pushing for commitments unless these guys are 100% ready to shut down their recruitments. Overall, another successful OV weekend. Just continue to recruit and get these kids back on campus.

I hate reading the “almost committed” & “gave me something to think about” comments.

As I stated before, last yr we reaped the benefits (an unfortunate benefit) of Covid, & on-campus visits prohibited. Now that things have opened back up, we’re going to have to continue to recruit our @$$es off, which fortunately, based upon reps of new staff members, we should be built for.

Most of these kids r going to fully enjoy this process, so we gotta be prepared for that. If we handle our part on the field, we’ll be good.

I agree. I would be worried but everyone that seems interested (sounds like most) are not yet pulling the trigger and saying similar things. I wonder if the message is telling these kids to be honest with themselves in a supremely confident manner that we have everything that someone would want (besides on campus stadium) and that they will realize that all else is inferior and commit when their ready. Good way to not fill the class up Golden style to watch it all erode close to signing day. I hope that it works. We have the staff to be confident in.

I agree, there hasn’t been a huge number of commitments across the country but I think when it happens there will be a lot of them. Every recruit isn’t going to have the luxury of waiting till signing day.
