Our speed Vs Whisky

Wisconsin's D is no joke. It's going to be tough for our offense to move the ball if Rosier has one of his "off" games. Their LBs may be 4.7-4.8 guys, but they are smart and in position a lot, especially TJ Edwards. And that Nelson kid in the secondary has 20 PBUs this year.

And let's not forget, the Wisconsin offense may look slow because they purposely do that to control the ball, but some of their skill players aren't. Jonathan Taylor is faster than a lot of players on our roster - 2 time HS 100m champ, fastest time was 10.49 seconds, also timed a 4.42 laser 40 at an Opening Regional as a senior.

This game is going to come down to 2 things -
1 - Our Dline holding up against a big, strong OLine and pounding from Taylor and LBs staying in their gaps. If we don't stop that run, it's going to be a long day for our D. Taylor is an absolute beast of a RB, but he does put the ball on the ground.
2 - Rosier hitting the open WR. I don't see us running all over this defense, so Rosier will have to make plays, period. If we go 3 and out too often, that Wisconsin offense will almost certainly wear us down.

This is a VERY winnable game with the athletes we have and the attacking defensive scheme that could create havoc against the base Wisconsin offense. But we cannot come out flat like the last 2 or get in an early hole, or else that Wisconsin offense can burn clock and dictate pace.

Agreed. Our Defense MUST stop that running game, because if we allow Taylor to keep pounding us and pounding us and moving the chains, it's a wrap. We won't last for 4 quarters playing their boring *** B10 style of football.

It's all on Rosier. He's going to have to show the world that these last two games were an aberration. Moreso for his own confidence than anything else. He's going to have to sling it and run it.

We do that and get a 14 point lead on them early, then they will be forced to abandon the power run and start passing - which is turnover chain material for us.

Starting to think long and hard about Orange Bowl. I think combination of our speed on D, turnovers and Hard Rock rockin can produce the W.
I think the O needs to open the playbook - get creative, stretch the field with wideouts. Was pessimistic, now optimistic. Can't wait for the game.

Where the **** did this idea that we've got lots of plays we don't use come from? And if we do have them, has it occurred to anyone there's a reason we aren't using them? I promise Richt didn't watch us lose 2 games while saving secret plays he knows will work for the bowl game. And am I the only one who's been watching? Our problem isn't the plays, it's the players.

Found it a little odd that some whisky fan was on here talking about how dangerous their jet sweep is

Agree. They rank first in total defense and pass efficiency defense so this will be a great test for Richt and Rosier.

Hot take: Rosier does a good job as game manager and avoids turnovers. Defense leads way, gets 3-4 turnovers and forces bad Wisky qb into bad decisions. Offense gets a lot of short fields because of D, Dallas is breakout star and scores 2 TDs. Canes get W. Hotter take: Even with W this is Rosier's last start at qb.

Our crowd will be the difference. WI is good team and we need a ND type game and result to end the season and open up next year. Our team should be rested for first time in months. We played the whole season without an off week thanks to hurricane. I would have preferred this game be against OSU. Everything would have been off the chart but we need that same crowd reaction for WI.

I wonder how many tickets Wisconsin has sold? Haven't been to an OB game in a while....what kind of music is permitted? Anyone know if the game is sold out?

Let's not forget... We were touting "speed" the last time we played Whisky. Sure, it got us a quick score against Whisky, thanks to a big kick return (by Sam Shields); then we got pounded the rest of the game. LOL!!

We can't simply rely on "our speed" nowadays, as every team in the country is on this secret/hidden speed factor, and has responded by recruiting a bit of speed of their own...

We've have to go out and play smart, execute, and prove we can be just as physical at the LOS to win this one.

A rocking OB might help though!!!

Wasn’t that DVD was the big kickoff return? Can’t remember for sure, but thought it was him.

Yall are way more optimistic than me. I'd be surprised if they don't beat our a$$ up front, specifically on offense. I don't think we're there yet.

My concern is our missing playmakers on offense. Funny as this would be a perfect time for a kid like Mullins to have stepped up with the Richards injury. I hoping this is Jeff Thomas' break out game, just gotta get him the ball in space. He is perfect for the Richt shallow cross, stunned he hasn't been used for that yet.

Seriously, what did Mullins ever do to make you think he will ever be missed other than a body for depth? He made a 1 handed catch in the UAA game that really wasn't that impressive but he was our recruit so it was "Amazing?"

Im so happy Richt came out with fire today and told the team we will get our asses handed to us if we don't come to practice all week.

The thought that we are just better athletes goes out the door as soon as you get punched in the mouth by a team who is there to kick your ***!

Reading comprehension, it was a swipe at the kid more than anything. He ed about playing time, well our #1 guy went down and it was/is a perfect opportunity for Mullins to have stepped up, and instead he is no longer here. The missing playmakers I'm talking about are Richards Walton and Herndon.

Gotcha now, but I comprehended your first post as it read. Mullins is missed bc our playmakers are out. I didn't see any swipe at him.

Herald article said Wisconsin is expected to sellout of their allotment of 14,350 tickets

Based upon the team that has shown up the last 3 games for Miami, I have very little confidence in this game. Rosier has been so so bad that, I don't get how anyone can have any faith that he will turn it around. Running game has been dead.

Our Defense can keep us in it but who knows for how long. 24-13 Badgers

I wasn’t implying secret plays. This is more a call for taking chances,
Getting creative, maybe some trickeration. Standard O will have mucho problems moving the ball.

Need to use DeeJay in the wildcat (CAT 5) at least 10 times maybe even let him throw it once.

Dreaming here but:
Would love to see a reverse or double reverse where Thomas gets it and takes it to the house.
" " Berrios throws a TD out of it to DeeJay.
Sorry i got a lil carried away, but our speed with Harley, Thomas, Homer, and Berrios routes they will be open Rosier just has to hit them.(story of the year)
Our D has to take the run game away which will be hard cause that line is big(but slow) and there RB is good.
But make them try to bet us in the air, Manny will try to take the run away from them like he should.
I think we will win by 17 or more.
