Our front 7’s athleticism and speed SHOULD be difficult for Wisconsin to handle
Wisconsin's D is no joke. It's going to be tough for our offense to move the ball if Rosier has one of his "off" games. Their LBs may be 4.7-4.8 guys, but they are smart and in position a lot, especially TJ Edwards. And that Nelson kid in the secondary has 20 PBUs this year.
And let's not forget, the Wisconsin offense may look slow because they purposely do that to control the ball, but some of their skill players aren't. Jonathan Taylor is faster than a lot of players on our roster - 2 time HS 100m champ, fastest time was 10.49 seconds, also timed a 4.42 laser 40 at an Opening Regional as a senior.
This game is going to come down to 2 things -
1 - Our Dline holding up against a big, strong OLine and pounding from Taylor and LBs staying in their gaps. If we don't stop that run, it's going to be a long day for our D. Taylor is an absolute beast of a RB, but he does put the ball on the ground.
2 - Rosier hitting the open WR. I don't see us running all over this defense, so Rosier will have to make plays, period. If we go 3 and out too often, that Wisconsin offense will almost certainly wear us down.
This is a VERY winnable game with the athletes we have and the attacking defensive scheme that could create havoc against the base Wisconsin offense. But we cannot come out flat like the last 2 or get in an early hole, or else that Wisconsin offense can burn clock and dictate pace.
Starting to think long and hard about Orange Bowl. I think combination of our speed on D, turnovers and Hard Rock rockin can produce the W.
I think the O needs to open the playbook - get creative, stretch the field with wideouts. Was pessimistic, now optimistic. Can't wait for the game.
Agree. They rank first in total defense and pass efficiency defense so this will be a great test for Richt and Rosier.Wisconsin's D is no joke. Let's not forget... We were touting "speed" the last time we played Whisky. Sure, it got us a quick score against Whisky, thanks to a big kick return (by Sam Shields); then we got pounded the rest of the game. LOL!!
We can't simply rely on "our speed" nowadays, as every team in the country is on this secret/hidden speed factor, and has responded by recruiting a bit of speed of their own...
We've have to go out and play smart, execute, and prove we can be just as physical at the LOS to win this one.
A rocking OB might help though!!!
By Miami standards, I do not think this is a fast Miami team.
but you have to open that **** playbook that we have be hiding............ lol
My concern is our missing playmakers on offense. Funny as this would be a perfect time for a kid like Mullins to have stepped up with the Richards injury. I hoping this is Jeff Thomas' break out game, just gotta get him the ball in space. He is perfect for the Richt shallow cross, stunned he hasn't been used for that yet.

Seriously, what did Mullins ever do to make you think he will ever be missed other than a body for depth? He made a 1 handed catch in the UAA game that really wasn't that impressive but he was our recruit so it was "Amazing?"
Im so happy Richt came out with fire today and told the team we will get our asses handed to us if we don't come to practice all week.
The thought that we are just better athletes goes out the door as soon as you get punched in the mouth by a team who is there to kick your ***!

Reading comprehension, it was a swipe at the kid more than anything. He ed about playing time, well our #1 guy went down and it was/is a perfect opportunity for Mullins to have stepped up, and instead he is no longer here. The missing playmakers I'm talking about are Richards Walton and Herndon.
I wonder how many tickets Wisconsin has sold? Haven't been to an OB game in a while....what kind of music is permitted? Anyone know if the game is sold out?
:stormwarningflag-sm LETS GO CANES!

Where the **** did this idea that we've got lots of plays we don't use come from? And if we do have them, has it occurred to anyone there's a reason we aren't using them? I promise Richt didn't watch us lose 2 games while saving secret plays he knows will work for the bowl game. And am I the only one who's been watching? Our problem isn't the plays, it's the players.
