Other Teams Nervous *Added*

The “is Miami back” is touted by the media not us the fans. We all know when we can definitely say we’re back.

Nobody talks about Pitt and Minnesota on their boards when there is a job opening.

Al Golden, Manny those guys didn’t move the needle. When Richt was hired there was a collective uh oh throughout college football, a Richt did us some good but he just didn’t have enough gas left in the tank for what’s needed. We pull Mario or Lane and you watch the reaction especially from the SEC folk
This will be the last I speak on this as I dont want to disparage our program but your recollection of events is different than mine. The fanbase 100% thought we were back with Randy, Golden and Richt. Half the fanbase said that with Manny. I myself was jubilant about Randy and his 08 class. Remember everyone talking about us having the best WR corp in the nation, Laron Byrd was gonna be a first rounder some said, Jacory was gonna win a Heisman. Then came Al Golden, and he just got it. Reality is that the rest of the nation was laughing at us for both Randy and Golden. Then when we got Richt, the media definitely lauded the hire but fans especially in the SEC laughed at us as well. Richt was washed up they all said. There was no collective ruh-oh whatsoever. Now that didn't stop us from living in our own world, here on CIS we head a thread discussing the top5 HCs in the nation and pretty much everyone had Richt in the top 5. When I suggested otherwise, I got eviscerated by Franchise.. Then that brings us to Manny, the reasonable posters on here had figured out by late 2013 just what dire straits this program was in, but many kept on believing. They kept on believing even after FIU all the way to this season. Look, if we land Kiffin or Mario, I expect us to win, but the rest of the nation isn't even gonna notice. The media will hype it up, because the Media loves to hate us but wants us back, we are a story when we are back. I brought up Pitt and Minnesota because these were two schools that won titles and since then have become completely irrelevant. They won their chips in the 30s and now they are where they are, Im saying that unless something changes quickly, we are headed down that same path. 1983 is nearly 40 years ago, recruits weren't even born when we won 2001 and we have won 1 bowl game in 15 years. Yeah, when you look at it from an objective outsider's perspective, we are on the cusp of being completely irrelevant. We are holding on for dear life to the glory of the early 2000s and Gore just retired.

They got their hopes up but like I said to a friend whose an fsu fan… Miami beat itself that game… for as bad as we played the first half penalities turnovers etc… we still had the lead in the 4th quarter let that sink in… we played as badly as we could and then went up 28-20 in the 4th

A competent DC doesn’t let a guy who can’t throw beat you at the end…. Miami beat themselves
If they were any good they would have buried us in the first quarter.

I actually dont think I would want Jr here. Let Pops be some other schools problem, he is going to be a cancer

I deleted it and placed this in another thread on the recruiting board but somewhat agree. From what I’ve seen, the kid doesn’t seem to be an issue. Pops has a problem with Manny though obviously. Of course, this could all be fixed here shortly when the inevitable happens but it will likely be too late then.

Unless of course Mario is our guy. Then the kid probably ******* signs here lol.

And if we get Mario and he signs here, all will be forgiven. Til he gives up his first big play…

I posted some of this on DWins thread:

“ Now, Dwins: is college football as business? Is recruiting a business? Those two go hand & hand and you can’t scheme your way to big boy wins without the talent.”

“ The ACC CoRstal - sure!! Next year - No Kenny Pickett, no Sam Howell, no UVA QB (whatever his name is). There are no QBs.”

“ Lane would look good in year one. I like him. He would be my 2nd or 3rd choice. But he has a lot of red flags. A lot!!! Also, his recruiting is very questionable. Like you said, similar to Mullen.”

“ In the end, give me Mario. Great recruiter, great person, high integrity, tireless worker, highly regarded by all. Will build a foundation & infrastructure for long term success. That’s what I want. Long term success to make up for the last 18 years.”

L - I am confident Mario is not going to fail here in terms of performing & winning the CoRstal. If there is one SOB that can fvkk with Dabo and give him a run for his money in this conference, it’s him.

Not saying he will win Championships but I don’t see him fizzling out here in Miami they way I see Lane flaming out around year 4-5.

Can Lane recruit S. Florida to keep the cup full enough of depth & athletes needed? I don’t think he can.
Bruh this is too much common sense....most UM fans when they group together are fried. They always like the wrong guys it's so weird

I can't read much past the first page because each letter is the size of an F150, but there are a lot more lucid and sobering comments than nervousness and delusion, even from some of the FSU fans. We have not made a decent, thoughtful hire since Butch. Each failed for different reasons, mainly they were not good football coaches, and the data was sitting right there. The one good coach we hired, Richt, was on the wrong side of his career and never really got Georgia to be a threat in the SEC consistently. We also have been decades behind the curve in terms of investing in our program, and are merely catching up to "acceptable" now. We haven't had a winning record against P5 opponents most of the last 2 decades, I don't think we need to rehash the results beyond that.

As for these hires, I think Lane is a more realistic candidate, but to be CLEAR, both are very possible, particularly if UM is willing to invest in the program. UM will not be able to compete with a free-spending Oregon, but we can make enough of an investment that Mario can have the resources necessary to focus on fixing the program on the field without a hand tied behind its back. For Kiffin, the equation is different because there is no doubt this is the higher ceiling job-- he would never be able to replicate the potential success and exposure of UM at Ole Miss.

Why do all these ******** think we can't afford to hire a top coach & assistants? We have a few guys with big pockets & that UM medical $ is long af.
It’s based on some history but a lot of it is outdated. The gaytor boards always talking about how we’re broke and have no facilities. They’re clueless… we just haven’t been willing to spend the money in the past. As soon as we legit show money and commitment, reality will come back and smack em all in the head.
