I believe it's that if multiple teams share the same conference record, the tiebreaker moves from H2H. So while we'd lose the spot to SMU straight-up, the presence of other 6-2 record teams would force the introduction of another standard.

It's weird and ****ed-up, like most of what's gone on in this third-rate conference.

So does the Duke win help us?

It doesn't matter. We have 2 other teams in front of us. You can't jump the other teams just to make the argument over ND.

OU pass the eye test? They will have one ranked win this year at the final poll and just squeaked out a win against a **** LSU team with no coach and no qb at home.
BYU could get blown out by TT.

I’ve seen people say an SMU loss helps us and I cannot imagine how. They are a game ahead with the head to head vs us. Even if they lose they’d be in.

If they lose and UVA wins then it could be Duke vs UVA in ACC championship. If Duke wins that then that is a 5 loss team the committee doesn’t have to take so theoretically the committee could take us as the best from the ACC
