If the “eye test” is really that important, we should be in without a question based on every single team that played today. Too bad it’s a standard that only applies to us.
Dunno how old you are but this feels just like '00 when we were playing like the best team in the country and got hosed. Too bad we aren't bringing nearly the entire team back like we did in '01

I’ve seen people say an SMU loss helps us and I cannot imagine how. They are a game ahead with the head to head vs us. Even if they lose they’d be in.
I believe it's that if multiple teams share the same conference record, the tiebreaker moves from H2H. So while we'd lose the spot to SMU straight-up, the presence of other 6-2 record teams would force the introduction of another standard.

It's weird and ****ed-up, like most of what's gone on in this third-rate conference.

If they lost today, they might be out. But I could be the interim coach, it doesn’t matter, they’re not leaving a 1 loss SEC team out
Fair point. Desperation brings about wild scenarios lol. It’s the only thing i can see. However, UCLA beating USC might be a gold mine for us

Why would they not? Took Jordan Travis being out for FSU to be out. Lane is just as important. Making it even worse, there is a portal season early January with none scheduled for post spring. Lane might raid the staff and roster.

We might be cooked but Lane leaving is absolutely an opportunity.
If Ole Miss had lost yesterday and Lane decided to leave, absolutely the committee would take that into account. The loss itself would cost them, and they could use Lane leaving to push them down even further.

With Ole Miss winning convincingly, and finishing the regular season at 11-1, the committee could only drop them a couple spots if Lane decides to leave. They won't drop them completely out of the playoffs at their current ranking.

Need VT to make a comeback, but they look dead already. Their offense can't do anything.

It just sucks watching all these mediocre ACC teams.

We had no business losing to SMU (Louisville either). I'm still so angry over the SMU game. We saw the since of urgency and energy today agaunst Pitt. That’s what it takes every week. It wasn't there at SMU. You could see it on the TV screen. It stands out.

Acc championship is gonna be great with smu and virgina playing. Those two teams will represent ACC great in the playoffs..... how can Miamicl not even win this ****** conference

* a 5-6 team who fired their coach.

How much help did we need from teams that have either fired their coach or are playing with a 2nd string QB?
VT,LSU,Cal and Auburn, all playing today led by assistants. All 4 major underachievers this season.
