Other Coaching Moves

It's killing two birds with one stone...

You can hire these guys from the recruiting services & because of their job they're supposed to know as much about recruits as even anyone already on a college staff, because they see these kids firsthand at camps & eval them regularly for ratings updates etc..

The problem is, a lot of guys who work for those sevices don't actually know anything about Football lol
Yep. Another problem is when you hire a guy away from an arena where he was getting the info and connections you covet, then he’s no longer in the same position to do the things that intrigued you about him.

It’s like running a sports agency and hiring a recruiting kid from a website for his connections to athletes. Once you pull him from where he was building that access you covet, he no longer has that access.

Deon Broomfield gets hired as Safeties coach at Iowa State, he’s from Palm Bay & played at ISU from 2010-14.
He started coaching CB’s at Western Illinois, then was at Indiana St for 2 years, earlier this year got hired by the Houston Texans to be an assistant DB’s coach, but decided to come back to his alma mater to be S’s coach.

His older brother is Corey Broomfield, who’s the HC at Bayside HS & played CB for Manny at Miss St.
Corey Broomfield was also Chase Smith’s HC in HS at Bayside.

Brian Jean-Mary who was set be following Charlie Strong to the Jags on Urban Meyer’s staff has instead taking the Tennessee DC job on Josh Heupel’s staff.

BJM is a long time Charlie Strong disciple, he coached with him at LVille, Texas & USF & was Michigan’s LB’s coach last year. Originally from Apopka, a very well respected Florida recruiter.

OT but there's a family in town here who's last name is Morecock. I've met the patriarch and, luckily for him, he has one helluva sense of humor.

Former Tulsa QB that played under Todd Graham when he was HC at Tulsa (he’s the current HC at Hawaii).
GJ started his coaching career as a GA at SMU on Chad Morris’s staff, then was an Offensive Analyst at Arkansas under Morris, then was an offensive assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles & spent last year as Hawaii’s OC/QB’s coach.

He’s an Air Raid disciple & comes from Todd Graham’s system, very good young upcoming play caller, smart pickup for Malzahn, he also has Chad Morris ties so he’s basically from the Malzahn tree anyway.

Sounds like Malzahn if he can relinquish control of the offense will run a better system than what he ran at Auburn which was run heavy

In order to maintain the success that UCF has had under Heupel they have to keep a relatively similar offense.

Heupel was a Leach disciple who took the Air Raid passing concepts from Leach & combined it with a power run spread, that’s essentially the Oklahoma offense, same system that Lincoln Riley runs, in fact Heupel was Riley’s teacher. It’s the same system that Lashlee actually ran at SMU & is attempting to run here too.

So Malzahn will do the same, implement the Air Raid passing concepts & combine it with his AU rushing offense, which will look very similar to Heupel’s Oklahoma offense that he ran at UCF.

GJ Kinne is a smart X’s & O’s guy & given his time at Hawaii he’ll understand how to use the high octane passing offense because they’re a Run-And-Shoot system, which is a close facsimile of the Air Raid & manufactures productivity in the same way as the AR does, you don’t even need a good QB because the ball is out of your hands in 3 seconds or less.

Hawaii has always seemed to have receivers and QBs put up ridiculous numbers
