OTH Podcast: DJ and Romberg calling out our leaders

Those comments presume that the kids that "went away" didn't do anything over the break. How about those who went home and worked with trainers, etc at their home gyms? Or worked out with friends/players on other teams ALSO home for break??? Or went to "camps" with professional coaches/trainers? That doesn't count because it wasn't on campus? Or those kids who took a couple of days to get away and came back to Miami and did just what they are preaching?

Times have changed. Kids and families do things differently. shouldn't be presumed that there is less desire to win. sometimes I think some of these "old heads" get carried away.

Sure seems like the team was ready for practice when it started....
Yeah, they were really flying around.

If they want to be the Canes of glory then they have to be those Canes. If the new Miami doesn’t put work above alll and out work everyone else like those old Canes did then all this TNM stuff is just bs and we are in the same place we have been. We won all those late games against noles because our players worked harder all year and had some left in the final minutes. I try to never critize players. It is they decision. If they want to be The U or Suntan U.
I agree, and with a new Offensive being installed, they could have used the time to learn it.

The new Miami Fan;
Mental breaks
Miami Legends = Old Heads
Family time

This is what happens when the new fans have never experienced winning anything. They think 7-6 is okay because they played hard. They think 7-6 players sometimes need mental breaks. They defend poor coaches and awful QBs because have never seen any better.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what they said and nothing wrong with any former player making these comments. They are giving an honest opinion and from a place almost no one here could possibly understand.

They hurt some feelings....God...last thing we want is to hurt feelings.

Doing too much honestly, hate when old heads talk like this like they weren’t out enjoying themselves in college tbh at that age
You lose sight of everything you did as a kid when you get older. Sometimes I catch myself going off on my 16 yrs. Old stepson. I walk away from the scolding in disbelief knowing I did the complete opposite at his age. Hypocrisy of parent hood.

From the final spring game to the 1st fall practice is the most important for a player led team. The coaches have limited time with the players and can do no on field coaching.

Of course some of what I am saying is obviously sarcasm, but at the same time DJ and Romberg lived and played in an era before social media and smart phones. We take any and everything that they say at face value, because there wasn’t millions of cell phone cameras tracking their every move while they were in college. And here’s something to ponder as well, did you guys ever stop and think that maybe the staff preferred that the kids not be in Miami while the rest of the country is flocking towards South Beach to act a fool?

The previous generation always had it tougher and had to work harder.

I'm sure the old guy who were out there in leather helmets with no pads think those guys are pussies too.

Great post. Easier said then done when in reality they don’t know what they would have done if the social media era was around in the early 2000s when Miami was on top.

I’m listening to OTH Podcast, DJ and Romberg are calling out our “leaders” on this team for allowing players to travel (leave Miami) during Spring Break. They preach that in their day, the team leaders didn’t allow anyone to leave for Spring Break because they had to work to prepare for Spring Training. They worked and partied at night during Spring Break.

DJ feels this team doesn’t want it bad enough to win. Does he have a point? Are these boys soft?

I like and admire what Romberg did for his alma-mater, but I remember him and his teammates cruising during the 2002 season and even doing a bit of a comedy schtick during one of the Fiasco Bowl interviews, so perhaps he needs to tone down the OldManFootball rants....

Those so-called "Old Heads" were part of the Greatest CFB Team Ever.....they have earned it.....If this team takes on HALF the persona those 2000-03 teams had they'll be just fine.
You taking me saying “old heads” like its some type of disrespect. Don’t know where you from but calling someone an old head is not disrespectful whatsoever

Nowhere in my comment did I remotely say it was disrespectful.....If Romberg and DJ want to comment on the situation...they have earned that right....If our current team took on the 2000-03 teams attitude (practicing...Game film...X-tra practices...etc...) we'd be just fine....

No one is saying they can’t comment on anything, it’s the fact that as someone said early, they want these guys to be football robots and people forget they are student athletes. They can have fun. I’m sure if you documented one of the Romberg/dj spring breaks I’m sure they had fun as well. You should be able to enjoy yourself without feeling guilty
