OT - Wilder vs Fury

That is one of those unsaid BS rules that people take as fact. The only time that rule applies is if the current champ is a big time draw and the challenger is going to lose PPV or HBO money if he becomes the champ.
I'm not saying Wilder won, but I don't think Fury won either. There wasn't a dominant round in comparison to Wilder. For Wilder to be smaller & have a much weaker chin, Fury didn't even buckle his knees once lol

A rematch in London makes good business sense.

He definitely didn't whoop his ***, he just out scored him lol

I think Wilder got the 2nd, 9th, 11th & 12th. I don't think it was a robbery, because there wasn't really a dominant Fury round. Wilder put him on his *** when he was completely tired while also weighing a full 44 pounds less than Fury.

I'm not saying Wilder won hands down, I'm saying it makes sense for the draw because Fury didn't do anything to definitively beat Wilder.

Yah, but weighing 44 pounds less doesn't give you some sort of handicap. Also knocking someone down when tired does not give you bonus points. I can't see how you gave him the 11th or the 2nd, but we can agree to disagree on that. ATleast you aren't one of those HE KNOCKED HIM DOWN TWICE HE WON!! guys. lol.

LOL! Exactly, man. In that slow mo replay you can tell he is completely out when he first hits the canvas. I think he was out for about 4-5 full seconds actually. Then it's like the lights just snapped back on when ref his about the 6 count and he realized "sh-t, I better get up!" lol and no sh-it he just DOES! and like you said, not only gets up, but is immediately back to normal, even clowning around and ****. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. Mad respect earned for Fury tonight.

Me too. I gained a lot of respect for the guy. He was certainly sleeping for the full 5 seconds. Then he just pops back up lmao. I was actually laughing when it happened it was so crazy.

I was watching a few streams - bounced back and forth. They both cut out at the end of 5 and a minute into 6. When they came back, the British broadcast was talking like Fury was up 4-1...which I thought was nuts and clearly bias. Watching without commentary for the early rounds, I thought Wilder was up 3-2 with them all being pretty close rounds.

Then I go over to the Mauro broadcast and they, too, were going crazy saying Fury was up crazy rounds. Fury was rattling off mid-round win after win, but even after the first knockdown 10-8 round for Wilder, I thought we were real close. Neither guy was really controlling rounds. Wilder was erratic and Fury wasn't really doing any damage.

I don't see any real scenario where Wilder won the fight by the significant margin the one judge had it as, but feel the draw was very fair.
same here neither guy impressed that much to say it was a robbery either way, watched the showtime broadcast and the announce team was heavily pro fury though, a lot of casual fans throw around the robbery label when its a decision they dont like or dont understand how rounds are scored

For sure. I know exactly why they made it a draw lol. They wanted the rematch money lol. I just found it BS. This is why I want it to go back to 15 rounds. It would take a lot of these fights out of the judges hands. Especially because If you go to gyms in Philly, Jersey, or NY where they have legit Gym wars. Guys will go over 15 rounds HARD sparring like it was a match in the off season. The concussion BS isn't going to get worse for 3 extra rounds per year.

You also got the same casual fans saying HE kncoekd him down TWICE IT WAS A DRAW!!!

Mauro (the play-by-play guy) has had many battles with his own - very public - mental health disorder over the years. Mauro is a great guy...but clearly is a massive fan of Tyson Fury because they share that connection. To Mauro's credit, he doesn't attempt to hide it. He's a mark for the guy and wanted to see him win.

The judges gave Wilder the 2nd & I agree, I had Wilder in the 11th rd because he was more active imo, Fury was clinching up & keeping away.

And weighing 44lbs less makes a difference to me when it comes to power, the much smaller fighter should have a much harder time knocking down the bigger guy. They both were tired & only one went down twice. Fury probably could've knocked down Wilder too but he just wasn't engaging him like that, he was just jabbing & evading which is smart strategy to tire out a power puncher like Wilder, but that doesn't guarantee a Win imo.

I agree with the draw & want to see the rematch in London, I don't think either fighter necessarily "beat" either one.

Its like Angelo Dundee said once your over 170lbs or so you can KO anybody. If anything being 44 pounds lighter should negate the power with the quickness he would pick up and the cardio boost he gets. In that same vein than we shouold say WIlder gets points for having shown better cardio even though he was 44 pounds more. He controlled the ring the whole time. Pushed Deontay into whatever corner he wanted.

He fought the best way for him to win the fight and he did it very well. Going for a sloppy KO punch every 5 seconds or so also doesn't guarantee a win.

Watching Fury was like watching GT triple option subtle shots but they scored 21..........Wilder was Miami with 0 points with us trying to score on the big play with 3 different plays.

All jokes aside Im sitting there waiting on Wilder to adjust the right hand (thats all he throws cuz his jab shoots and its like pulling a truck back after he throws it) everytime Fury leaned left and im like throw it where hes going to be not at him. He finally does it in the 12th and gets the KD but he got his *** whipped the whole fight. I was rooting for Wilder but thats the truth.

Exactly. He got bodied the whole fight and literally did not adjust at all. Then he somehow gassed which in like the 9th round because he tried to do his windmill move, but wasn't able to finish him. Then he couldn't recover from it either.

Macro stuff...but its awesome for Heavyweight boxing to be a big western spectacle again.

Felt like the titles were sitting in Germany for 15 years and no one gave a ****.

Wladimir was a great, but its fun to have three guys at the top...one being an American. Should set up a nice few years of Heavyweight boxing between the fights with Wilder-Fury-Joshua. Throw in Joseph Parker as well.

leaned to his right my bad, and put the shoulder slightly upward to absorb it. All Wilder had to do was blast him on the top of his head and boom game over. But Wilder telegraphs the right like no motion with our offense, everyone see wtf we r doing just like that right hand,

Yea he was gassed I was surprised being hes the athlete.........Fury had gas in the tank to spare. The 12th Wilder was winded and then got clipped with a shot and gave up on going for the kill. Fury mad props dude is a legit fighter and smart, to me Fury wins the rematch but its close and I will root for Wilder cause he from the states but Fury is a funny dude and took the draw with respect so props to that dude cause he deserved the W.

I thought Fury won even though its pitty pat it counts, same as Floyd he wins with the points and thats the art of boxing.

Agreed. The thing is those pitty patts were taking a toll. His eye was swoled up and he was doing damage to him. Its not like Mayweather fighting 6 classes up where he isn't really damaging his opponents. Remember Mayweather at lightweight and super feather was bodying dudes. he had real power at that weight class. He is just going so high above his natural weight. But those shots do still sting. Thats why the guys with big chins didn't just walk maywaehter down and KO them. When he landed that right they backed tf off. IT was decieving. Thats why even Canelo tried to walk him down at first and then back tf off when he got tagged lol.
The thing is its not amateur where they just use the clickers and count up the punches lol.
