Off-Topic OT: What you shootin’

If you're blindfiring 230 gr. FMJ through an interior wall, I'm hoping you live alone, man. That's a lot of penetration for home.

230 gr. FMJ fired from a .45 at about 850 FPS will get through 30 inches of ballistic gel. More than enough kinetic energy to go through two average sized men and still inflict injury on a third.

I'm not a fan of blindfiring in a usual home defense situation, but a potential option (if you want more penetration than JHP) to consider would be a semi-wadcutter. Buffalo Bore makes a .45 225 gr. that they advertise as a defense round. Should get about 18" of penetration. And even 200 gr. SWC has enough kinetic energy to travel through a car door and still be lethal.

Just my $.02.

When those Texas boys went after Bonnie and Clyde - they could choose any pistol they wanted - and while they did like the 1911's, they didn't pick the .45ACP because from other shootouts with them, the .45ACP's didn't penetrate the cars very well.

But they noted the .38Super's did.

Against a man, especially a fat man - if you don't have a .41 or .44 magnum - a FMJ .45ACP works.

Penetration of sheetrock can be somewhat neutralized by hitting the SOB you're firing at.

TFWIW...but thematically funny at least...

That originally happened in Kanab, Utah, with a Deputy Sheriff and a guy named Mike Riggs some 15 years ago.

When he was pulled over, he pulled out his DL and his Concealed Permit from Florida - and the Deputy said, "They just started reciprocation with Florida."

The Deputy didn't write a ticket - and asked, "Out of curiosity - where's your weapon?"

Answer was, "I have a 3" 1911 Kimber Ultra CDP II in the console. There's a Springfield 5" 1911 in the glove box - exactly the model you're carrying.. In the cubby hole underneath the steering wheel is a .22magnum derringer, a Colt Agent in .38 Special in the door, and I have a Colt CAR-15 in the back."

He asked "what are you scared of?" and got the reply, "absolutely nothing." Both men started laughing their butts off.
And that's how that story with subtle variations came about, but that was the original event.

Picked up one of these as my first pistol

Back up in your *** with the resurrection!

So anyone got anything new/interesting?

Almost pulled the trigger on an HK SP5 but couldn’t justify the cost as bad as I want one. So tempting to with form1 efiles being approved in under 2 weeks lately.

Fo realz? Taurus gets **** on for their older stuff and a reputation for bad customer service with said older stuff. But the G series has been relatively decently reviewed especially at their price point. Its $210 on sale right now by me and has a $25 rebate.
I can only speak for myself. I love my mine. I would definitely get another at that price.
