what a show, a great night of entertainment

Some things stood out - the concepts of Reid and McVery are insane, the route combos, the play-calling, the overall system. I loved my end zone seats, as you could see plays develop and their formations. Goff and Mahomes are special, they both have real arm talent but do it in different ways

- the crossing routes were killing both teams and when you layer your routes and threaten all parts of the field, you have wide open spaces in which to get guys running free. Yeah, crossing routes, ya don't say...

- both teams basically did the bulk of their work in the spread. Yeah, imagine that.

- Love the way Reid moves Tyreek Hill all over the chess board.

- Coaching matters. Under Jeff Fisher, Goff looked like a complete bust. Now with McVey, he is a surgeon. Yeah, systems, concepts and play-calling matters. Funny, he's now 'executing' at a high level when he looked like he couldn't play just 2 years ago. His anticipation and ability to throw guys open is unreal. You don't appreciate it till you see it from the end zone perspective for a full game

- Oh, are people still talking about boycotting the NFL?

-As much as I admire coach McVey, IMO, he got away from Gurley and it nearly cost him

- but overall a great experience to be at this game(I hadn't been to a NFL game in decades,), seems like our city has finally embraced the Rams.

- and finally, it's too bad it was past Richt's bed time, he could've learned something( sorry, couldn't resist)

Those HCs are fb lifers. Has anyone seen McVays gf? Certified dime, yet, that guy wakes up every morning at 4 and stays in the office until the late PM coaching and scheming.

Football is their life.

Not so much with Richt. Someone mentioned it in another thread, but he won't even use the full allotment of bowl practices. He'll sacrifice a few in the name of coaches and players spending time w their family.

I have wet dreams thinking of what our personnel would look like in a modern offense

Imagine CB's trying to keep up with Thomas, Pope, or Harley on crossers, or even option routes out of the backfield with Dallas or Davis. **** we tried jet sweeps 1 week in a monsoon imagine the run game or PA off those when defenses have to respect Thomas or Harley and not Langham.

We have the ability to create mismatches all over the field pre-snap and with motion and shifts we just refuse to do any such thing.

Eagles have taken a hit losing the two guys on there staffs they dont even look like the same team. I hope whwn we do hire someone hes super inovative because sometimes guys get hired and take credit for success when they werent the driving force that made an offense go.
Look at the brown promoting there qb coach and he seems to get it so far (i know it a few games) but he was sold on protecting Mayfield and he called an amazing game against the Falcons. Chubb is a star thats the difference between a Duke Johnson whos a stepslow and a star RB. Dukes great at his roll though and will be better with this oc

Andy Reid has been an NFL coach since the dawn of time and as late as last season was managing games with dink and dunk Alex Smith.

They draft a guy in Mahomes who ends up being a transcendent talent and suddenly he’s an offensive genius.

Andy Reid has always been an innovative offensive coach, even when he was at Greenbay. He constantly studying, learning, changing and adapting his offenses. The offense he tens now is different than what he ran last year, the offense he ran with Smith 2 years ago is different than what he ran in philly. The offense he ran with Terrell Owens at WR was much more wide open than without him.

Richt is awful. NFL never gave him a sniff, he’s a terrible playcaller and his offense is straight out of the 90s. I think the guy is too lazy to study and learn new concepts

Mcvay's primary advantage is a philosophy of attack and the ability to process information so quickly he's able to continuously execute the philosophy. He's smart as can be for an NFL coach and yet surrounds himself with some of the sharpest eyes in the game. It's impressive to observe at such an early part of his career. Presume the trajectory will level off, but like Sean Payton once did, Mcvay seems the type to reinvent or tweak a scheme to fit a broader, aggressive philosophy. We're a universe away from that as a program (at least offensively).

Great football to watch. Rams make a living from crossing routes from bunch formations

Another trait that I witnessed last night that Richt doesn’t display (enough) is the ability to continue to build the offense off from its foundation. We run the same handful of plays over and over again with few wrinkles and tendency breakers.

When we do run the wrinkles however, they are successful:

- Roman pointed out a screen pass that was different from what we normally do. Result: Homer chunk play

- Last year against ND, we ran counters with Herndon coming from opposite side of formation. Result: Multiple chunk plays.

- Last week, we throw a go route on 3rd and short. Result: DPI for a first down.

Every week we should have new wrinkles that play off of what we normally do. Case in point:

We line up in a 21 formation on 3rd and short. What’s the play? It’s a run up the middle. We’ve shown that time and time again.

What Richt needs to do is have a play where we PA off of that, roll Perry out, have a RB in the flat, WR on an out or comeback route, and a WR/TR dragging across the field. Guaranteed first down.

High school level adjustments we don’t make.

Smiths stats were all time highs last year. Reid has always been ahead of the curve on Offense. His defenses in KC have been atrocious. He needs to get rid of Bob Sutton. It has been a complete disaster and people were furious he was retained after the last 2 seasons.

holding any college team and coach to NFL standards is pretty high bench mark. I am ok with the comparisons. Keeping it to the college level is sufficient for comparing college players and coaches. Holding a college coach and players to professional standards and skill level is a bit much. It's why in comparison a smaller number of coaches and players even get to sniff the pro ranks. Just adding some perspective here. Too bad that even in an OT message and fine recap of a pro game, Richt hate can still seep in.
