OT: Ultimate WR

No Rice?
Fighting Abily: Andre Johnson
IQ would got to Rice. Physically, Rice didn't have a
siingular trait that was dominant. Route Running? I think Torrey Holt, Issac Bruce, And Tim Brown were right there with him as far as Route running.

IIRC, CC also had arguably the biggest hands for a WR.

Yeah, my guy had mittens on him. I went to a Bears v. Vikings game at Soldier Field in ‘99. I know it’s fashionable for these WRs to practice these one handed catches in front of the cameras, but legit CC was doing this before social media.

He was practicing toe drags & tip toes along the sideline, yelling at the practice QB to throw it wider so he could extend & make improbable side line catches. Dude was catching balls behind him w/ one hand, up high w/ one hand. I was amazed, & I literally would try to practice that as a teen. The ball just stopped when it hit his hands.

HOWEVER, I specifically remember him torching us that game, & still remember cursing his name. Lol. Bro had 3 TDs & I think like 140+ that game w/ F’ing Jeff George! He & Moss bludgeoned our secondary.

I remember when my buccaneers were in the NFC Central. The Vikings had Culpepper, Robert Smith, Moss, and Carter. At one point, I felt Culpepper was like "**** it! I know Moss down there somewhere". Offensively, those teams stupid talented.

Yeah, & not to derail, but Robert Smith was a beast! He retired early on his volition, but it amazes me a team that had that many stars on both sides of the ball couldn’t secure at least one ring. I mean Smith retired after putting up 1500+ & 10 TDs to pursue sports medicine. Kudos to him, but I feel like that Vikings team from ‘98 - ‘00 left something on the table.

Better than Cris Carter? Thats a bold statement.
You're talking about the two best...in many cases ymmv...but not in this case.

He has more tackles than drops. More QB changes than drops. Averaged 2 drops per QB he played with.

At the end of his career...not even at the height of his powers...

Not mentioned in the hands cat but should be in the discussion...Nuke Hopkins.

Leaping ability: Keyshawn Johnson
Ball Tracking: Odell Beckham Jr.
Hands: Braylon Edwards
Physicality: Dee Wiggins
Route Running: Michael Redding
Explosiveness: Darrell Langham
Toughness: Rae Carruth
Body Type: USC Mike Williams

What traits would you pluck from other WRs to build the ultimate WR?

Leaping ability: Randy Moss
Ball Tracking: Larry Fitzgerald
Hands: Chris Carter
Physicality: Terrell Owens/Michael Irvin
Route Running: Reggie Wayne
Explosiveness: Desean Jackson
Toughness: Steve Smith Sr
Body Type: Mike Evans/ Calvin Johnson.
Reggie Wayne had better hands than route running. Best Route runners ever were...
Steve Largent
Paul Warfield
Issac Bruce

Jerry Rice is the GOAT. Has the records and the hardware. End of story.

Randy Moss was the most physically gifted WR. Shame he was a headcase at times and wasted some of his career in Minnesota (post-Carter mentoring) and at Oakland. If his head was on straight and played with top QBs his whole career he may have broken or come close to Rice's records.

Reggie Wayne had as good of hands. Certainly best hands in UM History

I do not agree with the first...Reggie had more drops in a season at least one time than Fitzgerald had in 4+ seasons...and Reggie played with Peyton Manning.

The latter...absolutely agree. Also...agree with your Isaac Bruce take on routes.

To extend...Route Running...in a few more seasons Justin Jefferson will be on your lists. Unreal route runner from any spot on the field and has tier one success at every level.

Jerry Rice should be defacto...what he was good at...the skinny post, etc. he was better at those short to mid range routes than anyone at anything in football.
