OT: Tua vs Watson

Would love if we could do Tua, 18 a 2nd this year and Next year 1st and 2nd. Keep 3 and draft devonta Smith Or even trade down to 7-12 and get a stud wr and more picks
Yep. Exactly where I’m at. #3 overall probably gets us a 1st next year and another day 2 pick just by moving back ≈10 spots.

In order to build something that is sustainable you need a lot of young talent growing together. You don't do that by giving away all of your draft picks for one player.

If unhappy with Tua you are sitting at 3 with a chance to take one of the top 3 quarterbacks. Go that route and have a competition and then trade the loser for a future first rounder. Not saying I wouldn't love to have DW just not for giving up future number one draft picks. Maybe I give up one first rounder and a player but that would be all since he is a first round talent.

This is exactly the way to play this. No way you give up the 3rd. Trade it to any one but Houston. Watson wants out, let Houston squirm, they will cone around.

Flores needs to be belicheck ruthless here, will see if he learned.

Watson having leverage with a no trade clause doesn’t mean that the Texans have to give him away for less than either. Dolphins probably aren’t even his preferred option based on rumblings.
No disagreement here just throwing out the rationale behind why some fans are approaching this situation as they are

Any Fins fans? You’ve all seen reports they might be interested. Question for me is who you would want as your qb. For me it’s Watson and it’s not close. Now as a Fins fan I would not Mortage our future. With that being said let’s play amateur GM. What would you trade?

Fins -
trade Tua
18th pick
1 2nd rd pick
1 2nd rd pick next year.

Thoughts?
For sure Watson. WE have two 1st round picks this year so I wouldn't mind this:
1 Trade Tua
2. 3rd pick in round 1
3. Compensation

Tua is a back up QB and does not have the physical skills to be a starting QB in the NFL. He has a weak arm, can't see that well in the pocket, and is very fragile. The Dolphins front office missed big time on Herbert and he was a no brainer.

The only issue if this happens is money. Watsons cap hit is huge.

Maybe Watson would be willing to restructure his contract if it helped get him out of Houston...

Personally, Houston prob wants their picks back that O'Brien traded away for Tunsil. Id be willing to give them Tua, our later 1st round pick this year and a 2nd... thats it

Houston doesnt have much leverage here. This at least gives them a QB in Tua... and gets them back into picking in the 1st and 2nd round which they currently don't have. It helps them clear off cap space

Right, cause with his contact, X. Howard and Jones thats maybe half our cap?

But a good organization is already trying to figure this out, maybe even having conversations with Howard and Jones. U don’t figure it as you go.
I’m sure most team have a plan. As a fins fan, I’m not interested in hearing salary cap issues was the reason why Watson is not the roster. Trade whoever and get that elite qb.

I don't see the Texans wanting Tua... While I think Tua is good his value took a dip I think...

I’m not sure why y’all think 1 first round pick gets it done for Watson. You’re getting a Top 7 at worst QB who is 25 years old. He’s worth more than that for sure. You’d be coming up off that pick of their’s that you have too.
Because it's the Houston Texans is why we think 1 first round pick gets it done.

Seahawks traded 2 1sts for a box safety. Rams traded 2 1sts, 2 2nds, 2 3rds for the Jared Goff pick. Phins fans think they can get one of the most valuable players in the league for a rookie QB who struggled and a 1st or some pupu platter of day 2 picks. Get real.
