OT Tom Herman wants out of Texas

Pope Urban is an ALPHA.

He enjoys mushroom stamping all who oppose him.

I believe he would go just to keep winning Natties because they in large part still define him.
You have more than solid points and I tend to agree with all of them.

However I think Shelly is happy where they live and if the rumors of the diving coach at UF are tru then Urby just might want to stay home at keep The fam happy

just my opinion, but I could see why he would want to come back too

I think you're right with the beef. I wouldn't be surprised either to be honest, but that is kind of cutting of your nose in spite of your face. I think urbby is more intelligent than that, however reciprocity is a strong urge
intelligence is a logical trait. anger greed jealousy bitterness pettiness are emotions driven by susceptibility to sins.

I just took a look at Texas' in state recruiting this year. It's shocking. Texas signed one player ranked in the the top 20 in Texas (with two still undecided although one of them is heavily favored to USC). Two players in the top 30.

It used to be that every Texas kid grew up dreaming of playing for the longhorns. Now they can't get anybody.

Here's the list https://247sports.com/Season/2021-F...ankings/?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&State=TX
Yeah it’s really not the case anymore. Kids are leaving or going to A&M

Texas basically has it's first pick of talent in Texas. If you can't cut it there, then you are not a good head coach. No excuses. That place provides them with all the money in the world to get things done. Herman is overrated.
They don’t though anymore. OU has first pick, followed by A&M, followed by Ohio state.. followed by LSU lol

10-12 million? Yeah right. Besides that being a stupid number for a coach that is good, not great, you’re saying Texas would counter a 7m offer from florida by beating it by 3-5 million. That’s just stupid, beyond stupid actually

It seems my post really irritated your ******. Have a glass of cranberry juice while I explain my theory again. 10-12 million is pocket change to Texas. Michigan pays Harbaugh 8 million per year and he's a much worse coach than Mullen. Mullen has been successful at every place he's been. Sabans is obviously worth it, his 9 mil per year doesn't include the non cash compensation like the multimillion dollar house bought by boosters, private jets, etc. He's probably in the 13 million+ range when you add it all up.

Even if Mullen ends up being a Mario Cristobal and in his first four years at Texas just wins the conference a few times, but not a natty, that is well worth the 10 million investment given the revenue streams that would generate for Texas. I don't think you comprehend how desperate Texas is to win and how much money they have.

You got it backwards - Texas won't counter with 10 mil, I think that's the number they put on the table, the 7 million is what I think will be UF's counter. They don't have the money to pay a coach 10 mil + so if Mullen stays at UF its because he really likes it there as he will have to take a discount.

Actually it is. The "different" time is what got him fired. You don't have to agree just so say, but just because you don't think it's different doesn't make it so. He couldn't adjust and even tried to throw the AD under the bus to save his job.
He didn’t get fired. He could still be coaching osu if he wanted. gene Smith wasn’t ever going to fire him, he got burn out again or was just ****ed for getting the 4 game suspension. The fact that he’s the #1 name that comes up for usc, Texas, and any other big name program shows that anyone would still hire and accept whatever baggage he may have for a few years of elite football

Ahh, the clever ****** retort. Just curious...Why would stupidity irritate a ******? does cranberry juice soothe an irritated ******? Texas generates ridiculous revenue even when they’re not winning so theres very little correlation. Look what they dId to their stadium and locker rooms over the past few years, when they were average. Just because you have a crapload of money doesn’t mean you **** it away, but you and the other village idiots can keep throwing out those stupid numbers every time Theres A texas rumor. If they would actually offer that kind of money, they could just offer it to Lincoln Riley and they would be pretty much guaranteed to win the big 12. That would be Infinitely smarter than giving it to Mullen as an “opening offer”

I'll agree he is a competition-aholic. It's what makes him great. I just think it's to much on his health and i think the whole OSU thing might have jaded him.

This is a different time and the things it take for HIM to win and win big can't have a blind eye turned to it any more. The ish he pulled in hogtown won't fly in this day and age, and in the tech era everything gets out immediately. There is no keeping a lid on it anymore.

I just think he wants to be alive and cowill put him in the grave. He has 3 Natty's, but we'll see. You might be right
He won a ship a few years ago firmly in the tech era. None of the really major programs have to worry about getting busted, ncaa doesn’t care at all

It’s not just the tech era. It’s not just one thing. Look what took him down the second time. Had nothing to do with his players and the real damning things that came out happened like 10 years before. Society is t as forgiving for the ole ball coach these days is all I’m saying. And it’s just a lot of BS to deal with too

I’m also saying I’m not sure Urban wants to have all that for a job in Texas. I think he’d coach again, but only at ND. Just my opinion.

iirc there was bad blood with urban. don’t recall what it was, but it was there. i wouldn’t be surprised at all of urban is the type to remember that and toss a flashbang out of spite.
I think it was Herman that was Brett McMurphy’s confidential source about the recruiting violations with Zach Smith. He was the other coach that was taking high school coaches to strip clubs during their trips.

Maybe Urban got riled up after Herman received a lot of credit for OSU’s NC season.

Playing the what if game... if Mullen replaces Herman, who do you see UF going after?
Don’t see Mullen leaving UF for any other team. He’s getting great money and it’s well known his family likes living in Gainesville. He’s got major job security there right now too. Gator fans are ****ed he’s always guaranteed at least two losses a year, but their Admin is happy as can be.
