OT: Tinitus

Recently my ears have started ringing, and won't stop. It's maddening! I was wondering if anybody else on the board has it? And if so things you have done to either get rid of, or at least quiet the ringing?
smoke weed, get a nice sativa and it'll distract your brain. this is what my brother does. he was an airforce fighter jet electrician.

The first suggestion addresses infection and subsequent inflammation.

The second addresses improving circulation - to carry away possible infection and subsequent inflammation.

The third - pineapple addresses inflammation - period.

Do as you wish, but if you do these and are serious about getting rid of that ****, do the above, and take a zinc supplement as well.

Thanks doc.
I'll give it a try.

What’s your age in decades (20 - 30, 30 - 40, 40 - 50, 50 - 60)? I am not a physician, and don’t have this condition, but I do know some family and friends who have it. However, I would have your condition checked out by a dr to make sure it is not some other underlying cause like high blood pressure or some neurological deterioration. It could be age related depending on your age, and there are supplements one can take to soften or eliminate the ringing. There also prescription meds your dr can prescribe.

This must be annoying as ****. Please state some more info I’m asking above, and I’ll give you my 2 cents worth (I’ll do some research for you). Hope it goes away.

I'm 43.

Thank you all for your help!!! No I haven't been to the dr yet. I have an HMO, so I have to get a referral from my primary, and I cant' get in there for another few weeks. I was on the board this morning, and said maybe I'll see if anyone here can give some advise for it.

Thanks again!

A family member had it and said the only thing that helped was a routine neck massage. Apparently if there's an issue is in your neck or back then it can cause your ear to be off balance.

I think said relative continued the treatments long after his condition improved as he may have found an Asian "spa" that was offering additional "therapies".....but that's a different story.

As a kid my hearing was damaged due to the noise from an explosion, thus I have had tinnitus for many, many years. But, a number of years ago one morning I was awakened by tinnitus that was so loud, that as you commented, it was maddening. What you will learn, if you haven't done so already, there is unfortunately no known cure. Yet, there is a way to find relief and go back to leading a normal life, and that is 'Music Therapy'. If you are like me, after reading 'Music Therapy', you may conclude that is ridiculous. I don't blame you if that was your response, but the good news is...IT WORKS!!

'Music Therapy' retrains the brain to ignore the ringing in your ears. In my case, after researching countless possible solutions that did not work, I was referred to an Otologist who ran a battery of tests to determine, if you will, the notes that would best work to retrain my brain. Once that was accomplished I was supplied with an MP3 like player only containing the custom, prescribed relaxing music, along with ear buds. I listened to the music several hours each day for a number of weeks. Even after the first few days I found myself relaxing and the ringing began to lessen that coincided with me feeling much better. The final result was...I found relief!

Wishing you the best of luck!

PS: You will read about taking certain vitamins and other such things, but I originally went down that path with no success.

It is unfortunately quite common for Canes fans, as we first yelled at the top of our lungs at Radio, and then at NoD for being 10 yards off the line of scrimmage at goal line.

i started squeezing one out a couple of time a day to drown out the tinitus....all i hear now is...FAP, FAP, FAP, FAP, FAP, FAP

From what I understand, ringing in the ear has many causes, including aging. At 43, you are ruled out for aging related symptoms. Please read the two links I posted and read FAQs on those sites. If the ringing is severe or relentless, and sudden, I would suggest you consider an ER visit. Cost might matter, but there is no price on catching your problem in its tracks, if serious. Well wishes for you.

Something cheap and easy. Put some raw, unfiltered honey and two teaspoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water and drink three of those a day.

One more - raw ginger - grate and steep in hot water - drink, two or three times a day.

And fresh pineapple - lots of vitamin A that seems to help as well.

Easy, natural, cheap, and no side effects.
Better yet--pour all that stuff in your ears instead of drinking it.
Soon you won't notice the tinnitus.

I've had it for years, caused by being in the military and shooting guns. It comes and goes and there's nothing that can really be done to my knowledge. Mine isn't too bad so it's manageable for me. Hope you can deal with it ok...

U are who your friends are , this is great stuff here for sure hope it's contagious some good people here who care :11263272045-489f4f7972-o:

My Doc told me my tinnitus was caused by high blood pressure for which I now take meds......but its still here
Try putting a few drops of cold press olive oil rather than taking medication that will most likely cause problems elsewhere like your liver or kidneys

There is no cure for tinnitus, I am a Hearing Instrument Specialist and 95% of my patients suffer with this. Hearing aids can help because it restores different frequencies that we hear and that masks over the tinnitus and there are tinnitus maskers in most of the hearing aids on the market today. I am 46 and wear hearing devices I also suffer from tinnitus too. It can be overwhelming at times and I do watch my diet too. Alot of spicy foods, caffeine and stress can cause tinnitus to be more noticeable so it can be a culmination of things that can help with it.

Curious, why caffeine and spicy foods?
