I rented hip hop documentaries and underground stuff back in the day and saw a documentary about fifty cent years before em got him. Literally a nobody.
He kept getting signed , then shelved or could never put out music. Dude was so defeated , like he was at a crossroads with the industry. Mix tapes was the only way he could really get his music out.
Then years later he’s one of the biggest names ever in hip hop.
I know exactly the type of docs ur talking about. They used to sell them at my barbershop lol. Ya bro He put out mad tapes before he actually blew up. I remember hearing power of the dollar a good 3-4 years before He started blowing up with ****sta and In da club. Thats how it was back then though. Most guys would be putting out tapes for years and years before they finally blew up. Now you put out a hot youtube video and you get signed in a few days. lol.
