OT: Tennessee thinks it has Gruden locked up

Got a friend who follows them closely. I guess Gruden has lots of ties. His wife was a cheerleader there, he was a GA there as his first coaching job, he has a son that currently goes there, and he also owns a house in Knoxville. I suppose with all these boycotts in the NFL and ratings being down, maybe his $8M salary may get terminated. With that being said, does he really want to get back into college football and deal with recruiting and invest that much of his time??? There are always rumors with Gruden so who knows.

I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is? The guy hasn't coached any kind of game in 10 years and he's supposed to come in and be some kind of savior? He will have a hard time adjusting to the college game and recruiting won't be that easy as people are thinking. ****, most of the kids these days that are Sophomores or Juniors don't even know who this guy is.

He was never a college football coach in the BCS. He was a graduate assisstant at Tennessee.

His only success at Tampa Bay was when he took over Tony Dungy's team. He won the Super Bowl because he knew every play the Raiders had.

In the NFL, he has a .500 winning percentage. He has never recruited nor coached in a major role in Div I college football.

Why his name comes up in these conversations I do not know, other than being on TV. He hasnt coached in a decade, and because he makes so much money, he would be an idiot to give it up.

Again, who cares. The only news in college football that matters is that THE U is back. Change all the coaches you want, but you better get one that can bet Miami because the road to the NC is moving South, way South, back to the land of sunshine and hot chicks wearing little to no clothing. All these other schools will now be hoping to catch us patting ourselves on the back to much so they can pick up the random titles we leave around.

I wonder if people realize, Gruden has never been a HC at the college level. There's different nuances to it like recruiting and dealing with NCAA bull****. He's been dealing with grown men who does this for a profession now he has to deal with boosters and young student-athletes. I don't see it.

Gruden is the most overrated coach in NFL history and it is starting to become biblical. Hasn't coached in a decade. Was a GA at Tennessee 30 years ago.

Fake news.

Gruden will be a Buc. He lives in Tampa, he's made amends with the Glazers, he likes the talent on offense, etc.

It doesn't make any sense for him to be a college coach when he has a poor track record of evaluating talent and has no experience recruiting. He's completely invested in the pro game.

The UT rumors are a leverage play by him and his agent.

He makes upwards of $7 mil at eSECpn for a job that takes about 1/100th the time that coaching anywhere would. Dude coached his last game a decade ago. IF he loveddddd coaching so much you really think he'd have stayed out this long? I think the guy just likes to keep his name hot while continuing to grow the myth that he was some superstar head coach.......while continuing to rake in the cash on tv. He's a better marketed Bill Cowher type (minus Cowher's actual coaching skill) as people only recently stopped thinking Cowher would "jump" at the right opportunity to come back.

At some point some school or team should blast Gruden and his agent for playing games. I'm personally sick of the same **** every year about him.

Winner, winner. He's gonna give up 7+mil a year from a "regular" job to spend 10X the amount of time for the same money doing something he hasn't done in 10 years?
