OT: Stedman Bailey Story

Best HS route runner I have ever seen. He was a kid I was extremely disappointed that we didn't pursue.

Some kids just have it and it sucks when they don't get the opportunity to play here because they're missing a factor or two (in his case he wasn't the biggest and didn't show explosive speed at a young age). But him going to WVU may have been a blessing for him as he was utilized in a way that benefited him all the way to the NFL.

I don't remember much about his recruitment but it sure did seem like Damon Cogdell was a human pipeline to Morgantown back then. Not that WVU also didn't/doesn't basically exist as almost a JUCO when it comes to their supposed admission standards.

Who knows in relation to Bailey too? Going there definitely worked out for him professionally and perhaps if some of the details are missing here relating to the shooting then he might have been one of these kids that actually did HAVE to get out of South Florida. His mindset now along with the dedication to physical recovery from an amazingly horrific circumstance is beyond admirable though.

Best route runner in s.fla the year he came out by far.

Got **** Cris Carer had a woody while watching him run routes at a camp i was at with him.

Stedman and Terrence Gourdine were good kids from Miramar. Either they were after the cousin or it was a mistaken identity which i think it probably was. Stedman is a kid that shouldve been a cane or recruited. Everyone who ever saw him legitimately knew of his talent. I dont even think his speed was questionable because he ran a 4.4 at the camp i was with him at and that was electronic at Miami Dolphins. Facility.
Stedman also was a yes sir no sir type of kid. Both he and Gourdine who went div 1 as well.

If he's really clocking in below 4.5 than a team has to give him a workout at least.

Human body is strange. Sometimes it dies so easy, then others it is amazing what it takes. Shot to the temple is usually a kill shot. Glad this guy made it. I have heard he was a good kid.

Is it always? I remember talking to a physician once who told me that a fair number of shots to the temple don't kill. What percentage, he didn't say, but I was surprised. This was a long time ago, too. I don't know if there is brain matter which is superfluous in the sense you can damage or lose it through injury and you can still survive.

There is truth there. Depends on the angle of entry. Caliber matters a bunch. Type of round matters too. Hallow point does damage inside but lacks the large exit wound of a jacketed round. Behind the ear is probably more certain. Getting shot anywhere is a serious matter and best avoided.

**** I didn't know he got hit up like that. I hope he is able to do whatever he wants but i highly doubt the league is going to take a chance on him with all the work that had to be done to his skull and brain

Was the shooting in Miami Gardens? I've heard that area, or apart of it, is now the most drug infested, turf war dangerous in Miami. Is that true?

Yeah but I think the Brownsville area of Miami and some other spots are more dangerous. Then again, I'm not totally in tune with that news since moving to Coward County.

It was. But "Miami Gardens" is like an area that is stigmatized. Its like the largest area in the county. It incorporates like 3-4 other cities previously. So it has Norland, Carol City, some parts that was considered Miami Lakes, and some parts that were considered Opa Locka previously.

Carol City area..was and is always the tough, bad area. The shooting was in Carol City.

Ok. Back in 1990-91, some legit tough guy Jamaicans I knew took me to a place called Granny B's Kitchen. I had ridiculously good jerk chicken cooled in some kind of drum outside. I'm sure that place is gone.

I was at both of those combines (Nike and UA) where he ran in the 4.4s.

I coached on the SFE back then, and took my brother and some other players to the same camps. I agree, best route runner from SFL that I've ever seen at the hs level.
