The Giants drafting him made no sense imo, it’s the nfl. One guy normally can’t change a franchise around , especially a rb.

My point is the #2 pick is a guy that should really transform your team, like a QB, not a guy that you could have gotten comparable results from much later in the draft based on recent history.

I'm a Giants fan and I wanted Darnold. But it is what it is the GM said they weren't taking a QB for a while now. He also said there were no offers worth giving up the #2 pick so it was him all the way

I think we are on the same page i got confused with KrazyCane and you. My thinking is that Saquon is an elite RB prospect and can make pro bowls and be a stud for a while and still probably the smart thing was to take darnold. But he is not laughably overrated like krazycane said.

Dude is a straight beast , one of the best prospects of the last decade. Guys 230 don’t glide like this and have that acceleration/explosion.

He also kills in the return game and receiving.

He is far from a Derwin James. Defenses schemed for him and him alone . Then mix in a bad ol.

No RB on planet Earth is worth a Top 5 pick. Id wager all but a few elite backs are worthy of a first round pick.

They are rarely around for a second contract. Their value drops the second they are drafted, like they are a car. Any position in football carries a higher positional value.

You left off in the Pitt game he only had 14 carries. He also had 4 catches for 45 yds and a TD.
Georgia State game he had 4 catches for 142 yards and I'm guessing he did that all in one half since it was a blowout.
Northwestern he went 16-75
The Ohio State game I remember watching and I'll give you he wasn't impressive in that game.

You can't just look at the box scores. If you watch him he jumps off the screen, super explosive, good after contact. He's taken a bunch of kick returns back too.

Im a giants fan and did not trust any of the qbs period. Barkley takes pressure off eli and he can stwp into his throws. If they fix the OL 7 to 8 wins is reachable. Whoeveer is calling superbowls r insane

He is an every down back. He can run, catch and pass protect. As you stated manning is a statue, when you have a RB who can protect the QB it helps. Also Giants have been terrible at 3rd and 1-2. He will help with that, he is built like a brick $hithouse. Now defenses have to guard against OBJ, Engram, Sheppard and Barkley. That is sick talent on offense. And you run the ball then play action is a weapon again.

Why take a QB if you don’t love any of them. Who is comparable to Barkley? Michel, Guice? Chubb with his bad knees? The GM loves Barkley so you take who you have conviction about. Don’t take a QB in the top 2 just to take one if you don’t LOVE Any of them. Happened too many times before with Jerry Reese. Missed out on the guys he wanted and settled for Apple and Flowers.

Off topic a little and sorry to thread jack a bit, but since this a canes board and Giants thread. WTF is Flowers thinking??? Bad attitude and not a good LT. new coach come in and prove yourself and play RT where he should have started from day 1. Now he will get traded and has a stigma off a bad apple. He cost himself Millions with his attitude.
