Early signing day hurts Stanford. Many of their targets aren’t through admissions yet for ESD as they’re awaiting acceptable AP scores and/or ACT scores. Stanford recruits have to pass two AP courses. As you can imagine, at least some(most?) of the kids aren’t inclined to go the AP route until they receive legit Stanford interest, etc.
 
I was watching the game this past Saturday (had money on Wisconsin don't ask) and I couldn't believe how flat, uninspired the team looked out there. They were home, the crowd was quiet. The team has very little talent on it, it was not your father's Wisconsin o-line out there.

The Admin probably saw how Ohio State and now Michigan are turning into elite programs and realized with USC and UCLA coming that they were going to be in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten and if they kept this up, they would be playing in the Pinestripe Bowl for the next 10 years.

I personally believe Leonhard probably gave them a bottom line. He’s too good to sit in Madison as a DC. Probably Wisconsin’s best shot at keeping him.

Personally I don’t think they did. Wisconsin was the top dog in the Big Ten West for a long time. Minnesota has made ground on that claim recently. If Minnesota takes the top spot in that area Wisconsin will have an extremely difficult time regaining it. Factor in the influx of teams confirmed and rumored to be joining this conference and it makes sense. Also, you can’t sit on your hands and let Nebraska poach a big name. You don’t want to wait a year too late to move on from the guy.
 
Are you guys sold on Leipold? His name could be at its zenith in hotness right now and the "miracle" at KU is obviously fueling a portion of that but they're also in for a rough stretch in their schedule. If the bottom falls out on their season and then we're kind of just looking at his resume at Buffalo and UW-Rapids Water Park, is there still this possible bidding war over him?
