OT: North Florida

My best friends growing up lived off of Del Prado (Polaco Grande and Savona Pkwy)
Near the Old Tant Funeral home...I lived on S.E 46th Lane (near small old library) then moved to Viking Ct up the street from the old Del Prado and Nautilus Inn's....home in Viking Ct was on a Canal...caught arm sized Snook off my seawall throughout 75-78....
All I ever caught was catfish, sail catfish, tripletail, and a couple of sharks. Of course I was 8 when we moved.

I used to leave my rod wedged in a Seawall Davit...and as soon as I did...BOOM....Never did that with Snook...they'd be hiding under docks in the shade...I'd use live shrimp with little (2 BBs) or no weight....soon as Shrimp hit water...BAM....for the other fish...frozen shrimp or squid was suffice...for the Sheepshead and Bream (barnicle eaters) we'd just drop line near pilings.

Not far from my home from 75-79 (Mid Top left)

Follow the canal that goes past Rosen Park and our house was right after the turn. Back in those days I thought fishing was ridiculously easy. My uncle taught me how to cast and that was it, every day after school I was out on the dock.

Mine was down Driftwood...then a right

Crazy stuff, my man. Lol. It sounds to familiar. You mentioned Highway 90. My grandfather's address is still highway 90 in Sneads Fl. I can't get away from that **** road. I practically grew up on that road in Sneads, Fl. I moved to Tally and stayed on that road (Tennessee street). I moved to Jax and my first place was off of Beach Blvd, which is highway 90. 3 different cities, same **** street. Lol
You guys familiar with the ghost of Highway 90?

Back in CaneinOrlando's youth (74-mid 80s) I'd put Sanibel and Captiva Islands up against anything in the State 7 days a week...of course I'm partial having grown up 25miles away...and lived on Captiva from 81-83...but still....Place was beyond Magical in its heyday...
Earth's slice of heaven.....

Insane when I lived on Captiva...Straight outta Culinary school....too apprentice at South Seas Plantation...then later on at Tween Waters....Best Days of my Life....From Smoking Tai Stick with my Chef Buddy who worked at Letizia's Italian Rest near the Lighthouse....too staggering back to South Seas from the Mucky Duck...Lol

Maybe not better...but the closest there is SouthWest Fl....From Sarasota to Naples....
Still the best area in Fl...and it just so happens that I'll be in that area this coming Wed-Thur Condo/Townhome hunting with the GF before heading to the Gables for Rutgers series...
Just a little south. Marco Island is nice pickings...

Spent plenty of time catching sea trout and pompano. West side of Blind Pass. Two exctasy pills guaranteed my line in the water for 8 hours solid....😀

Can't remember . It could be on the side of the road. Or a light orb in the car.
I was just starting to drive when these rumors started to surface. If it was after 8pm, I was scared as a ma****ah to drive home, even if it was only a quarter of a mile from my grandma's house. That s'hit had the entire community shook. LMAO

Sounds about right because I believe it was based on the remodeling of the highway near Jacksonville.

Been in CB 25 years now after growing up in Miami. Surf and play golf so its great for me . My condo is all Maryland snow birds : total phuckwads!
I can't defend Marylanders....wish I could be at some of those Florida bays or beaches right now. Yesterday it was sunny and unseasonably warm here ('50's). Now it's cold and rainy.

I used to love fishing growing up in South Florida. Snook was king. Great fighter (like tarpon, a great leaper). Also great eating fish, but it could not he caught commercially. Also had a size minimum of 18" to keep
Has any of this changed?
