Destin is still okay....im talking Fort Walton 12miles west....Its gotten terrible in comparison to what it was...Okaloosa Island is a Dump....Where I bought my home in 93 (Pine Meadows S/D) near Hurlburt Field is now unrecognizable...Navarre is still okay....
The Destin that I moved too in 88 was an absolute Win Win...even Fort Walton was still nice...I have several very close friends who are business and homeowners in FWB...One of them has a Drop Dead home directly on Choctawhatchee Bay...he hates what FWB has become...and would sell his home in a flash if not for a Daughter in HS and another in College.

@South Side Chi Cane ...Bro....if you saw Destin (Holiday Isle) when I moved there in 88...you'd be like..Damnnn...Place was Booming with Oil $$ from Louisiana...CaneinOrlando was slaying it $$$ wise as an Executive Sous Chef at a 4* establishment....Puzzy was runnin around absolutely Rampant....I was even Moonlighting as a Chef doing personal parties at Well too do people's homes (me and another Chef)....Good times....

My girlfriends parents live in a condo where you step outside the balcony turn to the right and you have that man made island where everybody pulls their boat up to each other and drinks their *** off. Is it Treasure Island ? Now if you go across the bridge you are in Ft. Walton right?
 
Honestly, where in Florida has actually gotten better over the last 30 years?

Thats Crab Island....in between Destin/Ft Walton....go across the Brooks Bridge (after Okaloosa Island) and your in Fort Walton...

Maybe not better...but the closest there is SouthWest Fl....From Sarasota to Naples....
Still the best area in Fl...and it just so happens that I'll be in that area this coming Wed-Thur Condo/Townhome hunting with the GF before heading to the Gables for Rutgers series...

Yeah...Its all Crap to Mary Esther cutoff...
Eglin Pkwy and Beal Pkwy areas are crap as well....Dont get me wrong...there still are nice places...but nothing whatsoever like before...

But that traffic is ****...

If I were to move that way after my kids are graduated, it would probably be closer to Marco Island. I remember Cape Coral from the early 70's. It breaks my heart to see what it turned into.

I grew up in Cape Coral (74-80) its still nice...My Aunt has a Beautiful home off of Mohawk Pkwy...

You got there right when I moved to Miami. We were behind where the Walmart is on Del Prado. Our house had water on two sides and has been torn down and replaced with a mansion.

My best friends growing up lived off of Del Prado (Polaco Grande and Savona Pkwy)
Near the Old Tant Funeral home...I lived on S.E 46th Lane (near small old library) then moved to Viking Ct up the street from the old Del Prado and Nautilus Inn's....home on Viking Ct was on a Canal...caught arm sized Snook off my seawall throughout 75-78....
