he could play 3/4 time with his hands and 7/8 time with his feet and some drummers of renown can’t do either together
 
Awful news. I had heard he had recently retired from drumming but didn't know he was ill. Another icon gone. Sigh.

Ward definitely doesn’t get enough credit, he influenced a great many metal drummers.

Blessed to have seen Rush live, saw them on their Clockwork Angels tour and is still the best concert I’ve seen to date. Dudes were in their 60s playing better music than at least 95% of the bands out there.

As for Neil, we will never see another like him. RIP to a legend 🙏🏼
 
Cut my teeth at the Hollywood Sport hole but saw them @ the Omni in Atlanta. He was truly one of the greats. Hope he solo’s with Moon who is my personal favorite.

On TSN, they showed Mister Neil Peart play the great HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA iconic opening love it. Last respects
 
Saw Rush a couple of times - most recently about 10 years ago. They are/were known to be one of the loudest bands in concert. I can attest to it! Fastest hands I’ve ever seen. His solo was absolutely incredible. RIP to one of the best ever.

Bonham's career was also cut short, and he was really progressing his sound as a drummer even at the time of his death. Would have been interesting to see what his influence would have been with another 4 decades. Moon died early also but he was kinda fading at that time. Not knocking Moon at all, he probably had the best raw talent. With Peart they are my top 3. Peart was a technician, a true master of his craft.

Sooooo many Great Drummers...Ginger Baker...Bonham...Peart...Kirk Cameron (Soundgarden)...etc...But what I watched Peart do twice, was a notch above the rest...

Had the pleasure of seeing Rush live a few times... always a great great show... Everyone looked forward to the drum solo cause you knew it was magic... In 1988 I got to see them at the Hollywood Sportatorium and had 3rd row dead center... Back then we used to wait out overnight for tickets at Recodland off ne15th ave and 163 st in North Miami... The drum solo started and Neil's drumset moved to the front of the stage... The solo took place literally 15-20 ft from me... That was amazing.... Sad he passed but his legend will live on for ages...
