I think sean taylor's death hit me more. Maybe because I am black and not trying to turn this into a race issue. But I am sure many Hispanics are hurt to see one of their young bright talents lose their life to such a senseless tragedy.
I'm Black & Latino (my mom is Afro-Panamanian), and I cried like a baby when Sean Taylor was killed, it felt like a family member had passed away.
But, with Jose I wouldn't say I had the same reaction, but I was definitely sad & shed some tears over it, because I was a huge fan of his.
I just appreciated how great a player he was, and for me, the only teams in Miami I ever cared about were the Hurricanes (Fball,BBall, Baseball) & the Marlins. I was never a Dolphins or Heat fan, even during the Lebron era I never rooted for the Heat, but I always loved the Marlins. I specifically would go to games just for him & Stanton, but mainly to see him pitch because of how talented he was.
I feel where you're coming from, it was just a totally unexpected tragedy that caught everyone off guard, and seeing how it impacted Dee Gordon tonight pretty much speaks volumes about the kind of person he was & how his teammates felt about him.
