OT: Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez killed

Madness. Was to start today, but was pushed back to Monday. Have to think he isn't on a boat last night if he is to pitch the 1:10 game today.

****ing A.

Whoever pushed his start back to Monday should be charged with murder. It's his fault.

Are you trying to be funny about this whole incident? You are a pathetic human being .

Sometimes humor is good when deaths involved, it eases the pain. I know id like people to joke at me at my funeral

Pretty sure the laughing to keep from crying isn't what is happening here.

The ceremony had me in tears man..

Pregame was very emotional . Then to see Gordon-who never hits homeruns and doesnt have one all year , hit one out of the park was amazing !! and even more emotional than the pregame. Never seen a guy cry after hitting a homerun but it just seemed like the natural thing to do at the moment.

Right now, cant think of a bigger baseball moment for me than that homerun.

I think sean taylor's death hit me more. Maybe because I am black and not trying to turn this into a race issue. But I am sure many Hispanics are hurt to see one of their young bright talents lose their life to such a senseless tragedy.

I'm Black & Latino (my mom is Afro-Panamanian), and I cried like a baby when Sean Taylor was killed, it felt like a family member had passed away.
But, with Jose I wouldn't say I had the same reaction, but I was definitely sad & shed some tears over it, because I was a huge fan of his.

I just appreciated how great a player he was, and for me, the only teams in Miami I ever cared about were the Hurricanes (Fball,BBall, Baseball) & the Marlins. I was never a Dolphins or Heat fan, even during the Lebron era I never rooted for the Heat, but I always loved the Marlins. I specifically would go to games just for him & Stanton, but mainly to see him pitch because of how talented he was.

I feel where you're coming from, it was just a totally unexpected tragedy that caught everyone off guard, and seeing how it impacted Dee Gordon tonight pretty much speaks volumes about the kind of person he was & how his teammates felt about him.

They both were able to rise above a situation most people can't imagine living through. They made it out but tragically lost their lives at 24. Before either could really leave their mark in the history books. Cuban, Latino or black, we go through some of the same struggles and when we lose one we tend to lose hope. Like no matter what it doesn't end well. These guys are heroes to millions of kid trying to get out of poverty and oppression. I can't say I know for sure but I hope they are both in a better place.
