OT --- Leach the Pirate's Game is On

He got beaten by a better team. Doesn't change fact he'd win championships at Miami. Notice his RB had 11 carries for 65 yards and 2 TDs. So he does use RBs contrary to public opinion.

Come on...let's not make things up. Washington State is dead last in rushing attempts per game, and nearly 7 fewer rushes per game behind the second to last team. The fact that the second bottom team is Stanford is perhaps the greatest upset of the season in college football. I have no idea what David Shaw is doing this year, at only 28 rushes per game. Stanford has dropped from 40 rushes per game in 2016 to 34 last season and now second last at 28. Maybe he is preparing for the NFL after all:

Good call that Washington State was simply beaten by the better team. Leach does not deserve any criticism for tonight. This is one of those games in which the much higher rated team from preseason became the underdog. I give Mike Leach credit in 2018 for surpassing what I thought he would do at this school. But his style of play makes it almost impossible to run the table. That would not change at Miami.

His proteges have taken most of the good but added those needed rushing attempts. Lincoln Riley has been running the ball 38-39 times per game at Oklahoma while Leach remains stubbornly in that disqualifying range of 18-27. Leach has been dead last nationally in rushing attempts per game every season at Washington State.

Air Raid doesn't work well in a blizzard, against a very physical UW defense and a top 3 coach (i'd take Peterson over Leach every day, but he isnt leaving the PNW). Hard to catch passes in that kind of weather, but how often does Miami have a game in the snow?

Sounds like a bunch of excuses.....didnt stop UW from throwing for more yards....

No offense, but he hasn't even won a division title in his career. This would constantly be used against him in recruiting. And yes, Miami doesn't have snow. But his offense would be playing in the same conditions in the rain. Also, whenever he travels north of North Carolina (Pitt for example), there's that chance for snow. Then there's beauty where UW just knows how to defend against Leach's scheme:

Yikes. Not really something I expected to read about Mike Leach tbh

UW for the most part beats WSU and holds them below their season average. When you play someone enough, you recognize the same trends. Leach is miles ahead of Richt in terms of offensive creativity. Doesn't make him this great coach that would start a dynasty in Miami like some would have you believe.

Not the biggest fan of Leach but there was a blizzard

Don't think there's a chance of a blizzard at Hard rock

Didn't start coming down hard until about the 2nd quarter. Once it started snowing, that's when they got their first score of the half.

It may now snow at Hard Rock, sure as **** rains, or did you not see the Duke game?

This would be true, if Leach played against the same defense every year. But he's been at WSU since 2012. I didn't care before but here are the points total for Leach's WSU squad against UW since the new staff (defensively from Chris Peterson's arrival of course) has been in place:

2012: 31
2013: 17
-Peterson arrives
2014: 13
2015: 10
2016: 17
2017: 14
2018: 15

I think Leach is THE offensive mastermind when it comes to a passing attack. But this is subpar point totals (compared to his norm). Its not just trends, because since game 1 they've relatively held his offense down. Have to think that at some point Leach would be able to change SOMETHING to at least break the 20 point mark. But everyone has their achilles heel. Just like Kendall Briles who couldn't coordinate a 4th quarter point against a below average memphis defense yesterday. Still think they are both good but it's a little head scratcher where you have to just agree that regardless of how good of an offensive mind you are, you just NEED the right QB to be consistent like Oklahoma when it comes to scoring points.

On a different note with this part of your post.. I think most people just assume (including myself) that Miami's talent base is a perfect fit for what Mike Leach likes to do offensively. We also feel like any decent 4-3 attacking defensive scheme would be lead to a top-30 defense regardless of how good the coordinator is. I think its more of the talent difference he'd have at Miami to go along with his proven, and above average acumen in passing schemes...that leads us to believe he'd have us playing for the ACC championship on a bad year.

Scoring under 20 points eh? Him and Richt could be besties.
