This would be true, if Leach played against the same defense every year. But he's been at WSU since 2012. I didn't care before but here are the points total for Leach's WSU squad against UW since the new staff (defensively from Chris Peterson's arrival of course) has been in place:
2012: 31
2013: 17
-Peterson arrives
2014: 13
2015: 10
2016: 17
2017: 14
2018: 15
I think Leach is THE offensive mastermind when it comes to a passing attack. But this is subpar point totals (compared to his norm). Its not just trends, because since game 1 they've relatively held his offense down. Have to think that at some point Leach would be able to change SOMETHING to at least break the 20 point mark. But everyone has their achilles heel. Just like Kendall Briles who couldn't coordinate a 4th quarter point against a below average memphis defense yesterday. Still think they are both good but it's a little head scratcher where you have to just agree that regardless of how good of an offensive mind you are, you just NEED the right QB to be consistent like Oklahoma when it comes to scoring points.
On a different note with this part of your post.. I think most people just assume (including myself) that Miami's talent base is a perfect fit for what Mike Leach likes to do offensively. We also feel like any decent 4-3 attacking defensive scheme would be lead to a top-30 defense regardless of how good the coordinator is. I think its more of the talent difference he'd have at Miami to go along with his proven, and above average acumen in passing schemes...that leads us to believe he'd have us playing for the ACC championship on a bad year.
