All kidding aside, it's hard for me to imagine myself at that age NOT punching anyone who spit on me. The words wouldn't trigger me, but the spit flying in my direction would have definitely triggered a violent reaction. I'm not defending Mixon because he was wrong in hitting her, just as I would have been wrong under similar circumstances. I'm not proud of it, just saying I can relate to the triggering actions at that age.
It's that mindset that leads to domestic violence later in life. No age is it ok. No age should trigger such a violent reaction like that. All that shows is you are NOT in control of your emotions and actions......aka, you are reckless. If you want to be treated like an adult at 18, you must act like one.
Well, I didn't say it was ok, and it isn't a mindset either. It's about impulse control, and 18 year olds aren't really known to have much of it. It's part of growing up. Actions have consequences. Learning that is essential to maturing as a person. Even though I'm an old guy, I still have those triggers inside me. I understand them now, and almost all are completely disarmed. Again that comes from appreciating that actions have consequences.
