In any situation, you have to look at immediate bodily risk vs justifiable reaction. It's not different than saying it's NOT justifiable to shoot a man yelling he's going to kill you 50 feet away outside at your mailbox, but IS justifiable to shoot that same man if he's yelling the same thing while trying to break down your front door.

First, you're talking about an adult in a position of authority responding to a child, which isn't consistent with this scenario where two immature (intoxicated?) late-adolescents had a physical altercation. Apples and oranges.

As far as the car scenario, the ultimate result of slamming into the driver who demonstrated reckless disregard in cutting you off, (which could also have resulted in serious bodily injury) may not have been intended. You have to separate the end-result of the retaliation from the fact that it was RETALIATORY in nature and possibly in self defense.

Also, you're grossly misrepresenting the incident; either in ignorance or intentionally.

1. She clearly summoned a docile Mr. Mixon over to the table where they exchanged words (to the effect that his body language suggested he responded to the female) before he began to walk away (deescalation).
2. She then stood aggressively (which caused MR. Mixon to turn in defense) and pushed Mr. Mixon (escalation to assault).
3. After she assaulted him, he became angry and lunged aggressively (possibly spitting?) toward her (assault).
4. In response, she forcefully struck him (escalation to battery) about the face.
5. Mr. Mixon then retaliated in kind by forcefully striking her about the face (provoked battery vs self defense?).
