OT: Ivins Kicked out

Why do you constantly say that? EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON HERE HAS SAID MNW WAS WRONG... that doesnt make what he said (PERIOD)acceptable. I dont wanna hear the nonsense of what he meant to say. Reality is what he did say. Deleting it immediately after doesnt excuse ****. He was dead wrong to involve those kids in his problem with the school. The school was dead wrong for how they handled the situation as well. For whatever reason you've decided to champion this cause
Not my business. But stop each statement parroting out the whole agenda notion. At that point you've adopted an agenda as well. Honestly I give two ***** about mnw or ivins. But as his job description entails reviewing athletes professionally and painting a picture for readers he needs to be held to a higher standard.

ivins statement was not out of line,, it was correct but he worded in a way people would take it wrong at the moment of the situation. he said that if an all star game came asking for a review of an mnw kid do you think he was going to give a glaring review? I agree 100% with what ivins said. he can't give a glaring review if he ISN"T AT THE GAME TO REVIEW. he never said he was going to write/give a bad review.

Let me break it down for you.
The AD and/or the school officials as a whole outside of the football coaches is wrong. Nobody is arguing this.
Ivins went to twitter like a child, which we can forgive because he had the right to be outraged.
However, what he said on twitter, is what we are discussing here. That's it.
We believe everything Ivins said, which is why we all have proof (even outside of what El said) that the A.D. is a jackass. But we also won't ignore the negative statement he made in that same line of tweets.

I agree with all of this, but I will say I honestly did not read Ivins' Tweet to mean he was going to give MNW players negative reviews moving forward out of spite. I can certainly see how reasonable people would read it that way, but my reaction to his comment was he would give no recommendations on MNW kids moving forward (because he wouldn't make any special effort to cover MNW moving forward). I did not equate "no glowing review" to mean he's give kids negative reviews -- I equated it with silence (something like, "I can't tell you, I haven't seen him live."). IMO, there is defnitely room for interpretation regarding the precise meaning of his tweet, which may explain why he deleted it.

I do agree with everyone who has said Ivins would have come out clean if he hadn't sent that tweet. There is definitely enough room for interpretation to think he was being vindictive.

That's crapola. The kid has nothing to do with his issue one way or the other. It's one thing to tell them I'm sorry but I haven't had access there and I dont know one way or the other. It's another to bad mouth a kid and sabotage his future potentially because the school has an issue with you. Ivins showed some female ways in that instance.
Its also one thing to say "im not going to give a glowing review" and "im going to bad mouth and sabotage"....that fact is everyone is getting upset with THEIR worst-case-scenario interpretation.

I take that to mean "I'm not going to pump that kid up as much as I would a kid I have seen at practice"

You and others are taking him not giving a glowing review to meaning he's going to trash kids, which is a pretty big leap from what he actually said. If theres two talented players, hes going to give the glowing review to the one that doesn't go to MNW, because he's been to their practices and seen them first hand. Idk this seems simple to me...But maybe I don't really care and am giving him the benefit of the doubt, which he hasn't shown not to deserve imo.

Exactly. The only thing he said was he can't give them a glowing review. And, how could he if he can not see them? He said this in response to some MNW supporter threatening further punishment against him...Ivins response was merely saying that him not seeing the student-athletes because MNW's AD is on the rag only hurts the kids.

You all are making up fan fiction about Ivins malicious intentions with that comment.

As for the underlined... its one of two scenarios...people here just really don't have reading comprehension skills or they have an agenda. Its likely a mix of both.

My agenda is simple...y'all need to re-read what the man wrote and what he was responding to. Because what people here say he was saying is not what he said.

Here is Ivins statement, right from the source today- there is clearly a lot of speculation on everyone's part that simply isn't true:

I have done everything in my power to give the kids at MNW exposure. I paid to attend a game last season and ended up sitting in the stands shooting photos from the 15th row. I drove up to Orlando on my own dime to watch them play in the state finals. I pushed for Terrence Lewis to get a high ranking. I pushed to get Romello Brinson and Kahlil Brantley graded as soon as possible because schools were using that to negatively recruit against the Hurricanes. I have also recommended Marcus Fleming to the Adidas All-American Game multiple times.
I however am simply done with the administration over there. I have nothing against the kids and coaches there. I was invited to cover the scrimmage. I was told I would be given field access. I did nothing wrong. I will cover them as best I can from a distance, but I'm not going to try to attend anymore MNW events and be talked down to by the school's athletics director and principal before having police escort me off property.
You can say I have bad character all you want, but at the end of the day I was almost arrested for simply trying to do my job.

Like many of you, I follow a few different sites. I have personally always found his reporting to be fair, conservative and without any kind of personal agenda. Many don't like the fact he doesn't project or speculate but I like that he is conservative. If he says he was invited with sideline access, that's what he expected. I am sure there are those who won't agree.

There seems to be some sort of disconnect at MNW between the coaches, AD and administration. If not that, then it seems to me there is some agenda, as a few of you said, to embarrass and harass him for some reason.
That statement I would be in his corner behind. It's what he should have said instinctively rather than having to write this to backtrack off his previous one.

As a person who writes for a living I'd imagine he has a lil more eloquence than you're giving him credit for. His words CLEARLY imply he wouldnt give them one rather than he wouldnt be able to. Substantial difference between the two. Regardless it is what it is at this point. We've all wasted far too much time on this thread. Serves no purpose to continue it. We all agree to disagree. Have a great day

who do you think is part of this rankings system?...the guy that just got kicked out lol

MNW is/has been pretty loaded the last 2 years. **** they won back to back state champs in the toughest district in the nation. Who u think they have out there on the field?? lmao.. They literally just had a 1st rder drafted...a kid we didnt even sniff. They are still producing kids at a high clip. We really should of signed 2 from there in this class...and i personally wouldve went after Tu Tu Atwell. We got Nigel Bethel...and we have 2 commits currently down the pike from there.

There's no 1 that can call themselves a cane fan and not know that MNW is one of our feeder schools.
Andrew Ivins has nothing to do with how the players are ranked on 247. He is a journalist that calls kids up and ask what their favorite food is and get fluff for the school he is covering. He gives the people above his opinion but he doesn't control the outcome of rankings.

I'm not going to argue with you over MNW after this post. You think they have talent like St Thomas. You think because they won a state title that makes them talented. They had 5 losses and i know who smacked their *** around.

The last top player we got from there was Artie Burns. Hopefully Fleming is the next but over 10 year span. We might be able to say we got two of their best players.

I agree Atwell would've been better than Ezzard. Yet that doesn't put him, Bethal or Brooks on Burns/Flemings level. Losing the top players and landing the marginal guys doesn't make you a feeder school. Not every 3 star will turn out like Baker.

Of the Miami Northwestern spring game, including after he was told he didn’t have the correct media access he was then escorted out the stadium while sitting in the stands by 5 officers?!!! Anyone on here know about this? U know I really don’t care for the TOS reporters but if true that’s just wrong by the school!!
"then escorted out the stadium while sitting in the stands by 5 officers "
Great use of police resources with all the killings and shooting happening in the Miami area.

From what I gather, he was invited to the game by the Football coaches, and even though he contacted the MNW admin for credentials, they never responded or spoke to him. So he just showed up to the game without the required credentials and pretty much got escorted off the sidelines. He went to the stands to watch the game and they sent police after him to escort him out of the stands and out the stadium completely lol.
another public school with ***-hole incompetent communication and administrators.

So He threatened to write negative, phake nooz stories about kids because He didn't get access, and He's suing for libel???...say whu???

@CaneSince4Ever ivins NEVER threatened to write a negative. that is a fact. he said if an all star rep asked him about an MNW player do you think he was going to write a glowing review? meaning, how can I write a review if I have no access to their games

You know this how? Did you ask him?

If that was what he was implying he should have said "if an all ster rep asked me about an MNW player I will not be able to give a review". This is implying that he will give a review, but it will not be glowing. If he never saw the kid play he shouldn't give a review at all.

Anytime there's a game or practice that's open to the public, there has to be a security detail of police officers on duty. High school football games tend to bring out a lot of undesirable elements. They always have a ton of cops on hand.

I think this is a good statement.
