OT: Hurricane warning

Not sure the UF game would’ve been able to have been played this Saturday. We don’t know if this is going to have a major impact on Central Florida
Exactly. We avoided the UF being cancelled by moving it up and now it's coming for our next game. If we were playing @ Central Michigan the storm would've found a way to get there by game time.

Fixes from both reconnaissance planes indicate that Dorian is moving
toward the northwest of 310 degrees at 9 kt. As the upper-low over
Cuba moves westward and a strong subtropical ridge builds over the
western Atlantic as indicated by global models, the hurricane should
be forced to turn west-northwestward and westward on a track toward
the northwestern Bahamas and the Florida peninsula. By the end of
the forecast period, the ridge is forecast to erode and the
steering currents will weaken, resulting in Dorian slowing down
considerably near and over the Florida peninsula. This increases
the uncertainty in the track forecast during the 4- to -5 day
period, and also will lead to a prolonged duration of wind,
storm surge, and rainfall. The official forecast has been very
consistent so far, and this one is very similar to the previous
NHC forecast. It follows the multi-model and corrected consensus,
and is in the middle of the guidance envelope.

These latest tracks make me feel better. The local news is trying to scare the **** out of everyone.

Ignore them and the politicians and use your own common sense based on where you live. Way more people died on the roads in Houston during Rita in '05 than from the storm itself.

Great news!!!! ECMWF is saying it'll turn North.

I'll call it very good news instead of great news. It would be great news if we were hours away. I remember David in 1979 followed that path and turned offshore at the last minute, after everyone in South Florida was bracing for direct impact on a Sunday night.

The current Euro model is dependent on an extreme Dorian slowdown from 72 to 96 hours from now. Basically a crawl. That slowdown enables the ridge to dissipate and Dorian to follow the sudden opening just offshore.

In summary, Euro is depending on an extreme outlier...a sustained slow down of that extent. Perhaps it will happen. Their track record recently is very good. But I would be more confident of the current path projection if it were relying on normal range of speed.

Man at the end of the day the #1 thing you have to be prepared to do during a hurricane is evacuate. A generator ain't gonna do you no good if your home is blown to smithereens.

Nothing is guaranteed yet. Would stay prepared. Best case scenario is we’re going to lose power for a few days or longer. We already know what the worst case scenario is.

Cook ya meats!

Pouring myself drinks now.

Hurricane Windows, Accordion Shutters and Generators.

Come at my punk *** Dorian.
