I remember last year when they said Michael was gonna be a 1, then a 2... 18 hours later basically a cat 5 slammed into florida

Hurricane matthew, then hurricane irma, then hurricane michael, now this ****???

I love florida brahs but this is getting out of hand.. this thing was projected to be a 2 yesterday and now they're calling for a 4

it's gonna be a borderline 5 mark my fcking words.

Ya pretty much. They are saying cat 4 now. Hopefully it doesnt slow down too much more.

It will definitely be another cat 5 by this time tomorrow, unfortunately. They are trying not to panic people and they already know. Let’s hope it turns at the last second like Matthew did...

LOL It will not "definitely" be a Cat 5 tomorrow, man. Stop. Could it? Sure. But is it some guarantee they already know like you say? Absolutely not. And, in fact, several models show it pulling hard north and not even touching Florida. Granted, the overwhelming predictions show it coming to our state, but the point is nobody "knows" for sure at this point. There is no way even TO guarantee such a thing. Hurricanes are fickle things.

My mother’s a higher up at FEMA HQ IN DC. They making big moves already for y’all down there.

It kinda sucks talking to moms about work though because it’s always natural disasters, fires, tornados, hurricanes, snow storms, tsunamis, boulders, falling and killing people.

Then they often fly her out in the aftermath to wherever something happened in the US.

Y’all be safe though.

They have different means of tracking things at FEMA and NOAA as well if I hear anything other that what y’all know I’ll post it here.

Hurricanes are very fickle weather anomalies. Therefore, predicting track, turns, intensity, diameter, etc. are very difficult to ascertain. Having been through nearly fifteen hurricanes & TSs over my lifetime (including Hurricane Andrew on August 24, 1992), I would say that it is too early to tell where landfall will occur, as well as its' projected intensity at that time. My best guess is that we should have a much better understanding of these variables around the 11:00 PM advisory on Friday night and/or the 8:00 AM advisory on Saturday morning. The spaghetti models (including the U.S. GFS model or the European model) vary -at this time- too significantly to gauge certainty. One thing that I would start to do right now is get my gallons of water and canned goods (good for about 3 days worth of items).

Gonna be another nothing burger turning north with strong side out to sea. Then will have Anderson Cooper standing in a ditch with water to his waste saying how all this devastation is trumps fault.

Always one ******* who can't even spell, talking nonsense.

Back here on Earth, this is a very powerful storm that everyone in the state should have their attention on. I too believe this will be a borderline 5 at some point. Just hope it fluctuates if it has to hit land, but there is certainly a chance it skirts the coast and misses us entirely. Too soon to tell. But if you live in Florida, this should have your FULL attention. It's going to be a real mess for someone on the east coast of this state, most likely.

Hurricanes are controlled by the media and that’s a fact jack

And you know this how?

I pray what you’re saying is correct, but you have no basis for saying that with certainty. Not at all.

Nobody really knows EXACTLY what’s going to happen - this thing could really slam right into Florida. The models all converge towards Florida, the only question is whether it turns before it hits Florida or not - it’s all based on probabilities.

And right now the probabilities look like it hits Florida, but that could change. Apparently you don’t actually understand science or statistical modeling. That’s OK, let the grownups speak.
