OT: Hue Jackson New Head Coach for Browns

Hope he likes analytics! Nothin' like doing math in an actual dumpster fire.

I was actually with Uncle Luke on the whole "bring Hue to Miami" thing. Good hire for an eternally awful organization.

Duke just got a bump in production if they can get a qb that isn't half retarded in the draft

After his stint with a dysfunctional organization in Oakland, one would think that Jackson would avoid a similar situation in Cleveland. There are other more attractive jobs available, including the Giants. Jackson had to be a hot candidate for any NFL team needing a new HC. Remaining an extra year in Cincy as OC would have to be better than going to Cleveland as HC. Hope it works for him.

Would totally agree! Those Tennessee trucker owners hicks have no idea how to structure a management staff. NFL should take over management because these guys are baaddd!

The funniest thing about Haslem (aside from his crooked business practices) is that he was a huge lifelong Steelers fan. The dude had a Terrible Towel hanging in his office.

For those that say he shouldn't take the Cleveland job... how many times are black coaches even offered a job? He doesn't really have a choice between 5 or 6 positions. He has the choice of this or none most likely.

Hue Jackson hire represents huge coup for Browns - NFL.com

"We don't know what Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta's lasting mark on football will be, but on Wednesday they landed Hue Jackson as their head coach. They did so despite Jackson being one of the hottest names on the market next to new Dolphins head coach Adam Gase. They did so despite Jackson reportedly being offered a succession plan by Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, guaranteeing him years of stability in a franchise that clearly does not lack patience (courtesy of NFL Media's Michael Silver). They did so despite succeeding the last head coach and general manager, who flamed out with a fistful of high draft picks they could never seem to use."

This echoes what people like Pat Kirwan have said, in addition to their doubts about the desirability of taking the Browns job. Of course, maybe you are saying that African American coaches should settle for the worst job available. I hope not.

To be fair, nobody has the choice between 5 or 6 positions. I can't even think of more than one current guy out there that probably had the choice of more than 2 jobs and that's probably Adam Gase. Maybe if Harbaugh came back there would be 5+ teams scrambling for him but that's the only coach that comes to mind that'd draw that kind of attention. Even Lil Nicky Saban might have trouble drawing real interest from more than one team as he demands full control. I don't blame Jackson for taking this job even if he'll assuredly fail based on that organization as a whole. It's guaranteed money and worst case he just goes back to being a highly regarded coordinator and then gets the Raiders job again in 5 or 6 years.
