The housing developments are creeping further and further west. There used to be a whole lot of nothing off the turnpike out there but now you pass a bunch of neighborhoods on the way to the track
Yup, those were strawberry farms when I was a kid. Past there is Jupiter Farms. Those boundaries have been defined forever. There used to be Pal-Mar where they had sold lots back in the 60's, but the state bought that up for Hungrylands.

On this map of the Palm Beach County natural areas, you can see PBIR on the far left. The part above that natural area is Hungrylands, which is owned by the state.

My sister built a house in Loxahatchee about 5 years ago on an acre lot. I was shocked she could get an acre. About a mile from Lion Country Safari and she can hear the lions roar occasionally.

If only he could have saved Palm Beach International Raceway. But alas, 2 million square feet of warehouse space was more important.
