OT: Etienne Returning to Clemson

Makes sense if your goal is to enjoy the game, win at the highest level, and become a legend

He’ll own the ACC record books with another season. And they have a shot to win it all. Not to mention, maybe he wins the Doak or the Heisman. Those are forever awards.

I said this when Kaaya left early ... Why go be average when you can stay and be great?

Especially when the money will always be there.

Lol y’all know Clemson pays top dollar for a player to return if they feel that player is Key to getting back to the National Championship game. We’ve already seen this happen.

The difference is getting paid 100s of thousands of dollars or even millions to stay another year on a national championship caliber team versus getting paid nothing to come back and play for a CoRch on a .500 team that can’t even beat FIU??... decisions decisions 🤔

We can't convince UDFA to stay, yet a top back goes back to Clemson.

Is Clemson Narnia????

No, they're just knocking on the door of a national title and have that "unfinished business" attitude.

Same thing last year after they got boat-raced out of the Playoffs as a top seed, shutout by fourth-seed Alabama—which had Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence and Austin Bryant returning in 2018 to win it all.

Miami went 7-6 in 2018 and saw Shaq Quarterman and Mike Pinckney return, as their defensive coordinator was named head coach. What happened—a 6-7 run, while neither of them upped their stock and both are getting chewed up in coverage drills at Shrine Bowl practice.

Same way some kids returned to Alabama this off-season—build a winning program where kids can win conference titles and have a crack at the Playoffs and a national title—they're return.

Go 13-16 since that 10-0 fugazi start in 2017—guys aren't coming back to get their heads kicked in for free and will take their shot at going pro early. Hardly rocket science.

I like your thinking and tend to agree, but there is always the torn ACL.

They paying so good nowadays that elite kids are staying. And it's always those same schools too....u know the ones.

Crazy for him to return IMO. Dude is one of if not the top back in the country.

agree. So, I’d understand if he left.

But I’m willing to wager he has a sizable insurance policy to guard against that.
Who pays for the insurance policy? The family or the school? Is there a limit if paid by the school? I'd stay too if the school pays and it is a 10M policy, why not enjoy the best time of your life.

But he's already GREAT

Kids at Clemson actually want to win. Hard concept for Miami fans to grasp currently. Easier to push it off as something other than that.

This. Are people serious with the talk about bags? Do people really believe Clemson is paying players more than they'd get in the NFL?

Etienne and others are returning to Clemson because A.) They like it there B.) The NFL will still be there next year and C.) Once you declare, you can NEVER return to playing college football.

If you told me I could either have $20 million straight up, or I could have $15 million but I would also have the lifelong memories of helping lead my college team to a national championship, I would take option 2 every single time.

I believe Ed Reed said the same thing. Etienne is going to be rich whether he stays or goes. At some point, that next million isn't worth as much as other things. Some things are worth more than money.

This is a horrible decision, plain and simple. Especially with how the RB contracts are going in the NFL now with Gurley and Leveon pretty much being a failure making so much money and the Chargers basically telling Melvin Gordon he's not worth nearly what he thought he was and them just easily having Ekeler to be able to replace him and the Steelers having James Conner.... it's just so easy to get a RB who is good enough, nobody is going to pay RBs a lot of money. So it just doesn't make sense to give up a year in your prime to be playing for free in college, at least for a RB.

Like I've said if you are a RB who will be drafted it makes literally 0 sense for you to ever return for your senior year.

Stupid decision. Kid is getting bad advice. Extra mileage on his knees for no good reason. Dabo is the only winner here. A good Christian coach would discourage this out of fear that the kid could get Lattimored next season. His stock won’t get higher. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!

he’s happy and can’t go back... he made the best decision for himself. i wish him health and a loss to us in the ACC championship game

Trajan Bandy, CB, Miami
Height: 5-9. Weight: 190.
Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
Projected Round (2020): 5-7.

Trajan Bandy is a small cornerback who might have trouble getting drafted. He said something about unforeseen circumstances playing in his decision to declare for the pros, but it won't matter if he's not drafted and fails to make a 53-man roster, which is a strong possibility.

Grade for declaring: D

DeeJay Dallas, RB, Miami
Height: 5-9. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2020): 5-7.

I seldom criticize running backs for declaring early for the NFL Draft, but this is one exception. DeeJay Dallas actually got injured in 2019, so it would've helped for him to showcase some better durability in 2020. Dallas is also just a late-round prospect who might not get drafted, so his decision to leave Miami is quite dubious.

Grade for declaring: D+

I thought Dallas was closer to 6’0?

We all know the life of an NFL running back is super short. Etienn is making a huge mistake.. Once he hits 30 NFL teams are gonna cool on him.Better to hit the league now..This is horrible advice. Watch SUnshine comesback after next year too.LOL at guys who think hes coming back because of the loss

I hope some NFL players talk to him this is a very very bad decision
