AA male, 34y/o, from the Chi, living in Cali, insurance agent, phi beta sigma member, Canes fan since 87. First college football game I ever watched was Miami v. Arkansas...it was like the beginning of the season or something like that. All I remember was Miami beating the living crap out of them, and I've ride and died w Miami ever since.

White male , small business owner that lives in Gainesville,FL. Been a cane fan since mid 80's.

**** Cribby, no disrespect, and I here I thought you were black? Lmao! I rememered your handle from "Cu*tsports"

I've been told I'm really black my entire life lol, so no disrespect .

I always played sports, so I was always around more AA and that's who I mostly ran with. So I guess I put that vibe off.

Btw , what was your handle there?

Excellent, so it's still appropriate to refer to you as my ninja. Lol

B&R in Miami Black male 37 live in lauderhill HS administrator and PT instructor at ASA college
Canes the only team that ever made me cry.... Testerverde to conlan in the endzone I beleive 86'
Dammit mane I still have night mares about it

Leave it to vern to bring dark memories. Just felt kick to gut.

ND 88 made me cry like a baby. Osu 2002 didn't cause me to cry ,but it was more pain that i'd ever felt watching sports. I literally sat there for 2-3 hours in shock , my friends kept asking if I was ok lol.

To this day I avoid that game, highlights or replays . I even turned the channel when that part came up during Clarett documentary.

Interesting... I'm a Fan of Malcolm X and most people would frown on that because they see him as a radical racist... but he was a smart dude and once he realize that Religion had no racial limits.. meaning when he realize that he had white, red, yellow and brown Muslim brothers it caused him his life... I'm Christian but think that Malcom and Gandhi had some wisdom that we all could learn from..

Some Gandhi quotes that is relative to all Races, Gender and Religions:

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. "

I am not well versed in this, but didn't Malcolm maintain the call for a separate black nation even after he broke with The Nation and became a Sunni?
Yes..but he wanted to establish his new movement on his own .. to avoid anymore friction with the Nation but even say he would eventually open to all Muslims... however he didn't live long enough to follow through with that...

Do you think the separate nation thing is good? America's greatness really came from the whole melting pot concept, not the newer "diversity" idea. DO you think blacks have ever actually melted into the pot in the way of the Irish, German, Italian ... immigrants of the pass have. There are clear differences but it makes a difference in how to deal with this.

In a sense the Civil War was between to different peoples. The north and midwest were settled by mostly Anglo-Saxons and other Germanic peoples from England and German states, while the South was mostly Celtic DNA. These groups were historic enemies and those differences came with them. North won and Southern culture, which included healthy dose of Black culture, was suppressed. To this day if you hear someone say, "yes mam, no mam" he probably Black or a Southern white. As a Southerner, I still have trouble putting up with Yankees. Heck, I bet I would be more comfortable hanging with you than the average New Yorker -- except my Mom, RIP, of course. Strange that football brings us together more than all the government programs. I guess it is another form of tribalism.

We all want the same things. My wish is that all Religious peoples understand that your religion is between your and your superior, do not impose your beliefs on other peoples or establishments. Respect the American Constitution Amendment I (ONE!!!): The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion. Religion for all the positives has historically been one of the major impetuses to death and destruction.

36 yr old white male with 2 kids from Lakeland, FL. Born and raised in Lakeland, went to Florida Southern College and played soccer which is in Lakeland, and I've been a Canes fan in a sea of Gators/Noles since I could walk. Former firefighter and now own my own restoration company.

Great thread, @UknowWhat

Cuban. Lawyer. Miami born and raised. Earliest Canes memory is Kevin Williams returning a punt for a TD against Penn State. Drew a picture of it for first grade art class.

Currently live in Miami Beach. Canes, Heat, Marlins, Dolphins and UFC.

I thought you were black for the longest , the screenname and the pic is probably the obvious reason. Then I heard you on ESPN radio and I was like "this dude sounds like a preppy whiteboy"

MovingZen>white>computer programming and repair>ex Navy>born and raised in Miami but now live in Charleston SC> lifelong Dolphins and Canes fan but also like the Heat and Marlins. I've considered giving up on the Dolphins and just becoming a Carolina fan because wtf is the problem with that organization? Anyway, cold beer or whatever you're drinking to all my fellow Canes fans!

Also in Charleston. *** from Miami originally. Radiologist. Die hard Hurricane. Love the Heat, Dolphins, Yankees and Marlins.

Football is in a couple of weeks, can't wait, but to fill that gap in conversation here on the board.. I want to see how diverse this site is... Not just based on race or *** but in all the things we do. I just read that someone on here use to work with Orangutans... not sure if he/she was joking... but I thought that was very interesting... I'm curious to know how many females post here and how many are not from SFL... and what profession. I notice we have lawyers, educators etc... I'm sure some will have the attitude it none of your business and I can respect that but I'm just curious on how diverse this board is...

I'll start:

UknowWhat -> Black, Male, Computer Programmer, Retired Army, from Daytona Beach, Like Jaguars, Dolphins and the Bucs

What languages in Comp programmer

Irish, 26, software developer (voice biometrics).

Have never seen the Canes play in person but have been an armchair fan since 2010, avid fan since 2013. Watched The U in 2010 and I was hooked.

Religiously read r/cfb/, r/miamihurricanes, SOTU, CIS and anything else UM-related on a daily basis. Absolutely can't wait to get over to NMS to see my first game - ideally it would be vs FSU but that doesn't fall at the right time of the season for me given my own sporting commitments.

Happy to be here!
