It's total smoke. It's just an excuse for he wanted one of these offers all along. Out class is loaded of Deep South guys: Jones, Plazz, Jackson, McConathy, Pruitt, Day. Riley IF he sticks (I've NEVER counted him in this class).

Miami is not for everyone. Nor is competing for playing time against the like of Samson, Mauigoa and Bell. Not to mention some of the others. I honestly can’t blame the kid or his family for deciding to stay in a smaller environment with less competition on the roster. And frankly if he did not flip now, he likely would transfer in a few years anyway.
