Hahahha. They call him "the get back guy". Seriously. Gets paid to do it. Now that I think of it, maybe we need one for Manny on his slip n slide adventures.

Let them find out eventuallyThus would be a bad hire for Okie
We haven't hired an AD or fired our fanboy DC. Not ready to celebrate just yet. This is phenomenal for us.
He's earned it. Dude knows his stuff.OU Boards saying done deal. We'll see.
How is Venables a bad hire??? He essentially did what Kirby Smart did: bided his time for the perfect job. As long as Oklahoma gives him a blank check for assistant coaches he will be successful. I guarantee you that their defense will be tougher than it currently isWould be a bad hire IMO, Venables is a lifelong coordinator type.
He’s a Bob Stoops disciple & was there for 12 years before he went to Clemson, but this is basically Oklahoma’s version of going “all Miami bro!”.
The logic is, since they’re going to the SEC that they’ll need a more Defensive minded HC & due to his time at Clemson is a good recruiter in the South.
However, this is a sign that Oklahoma as a program isn’t as highly thought of as imagined, they should be able to land a big time HC, settling for a DC signifies they’re not trying to spend a lot of money & they’re expecting to be a mid-level team in the SEC.
They’re basically trading in the Ferrari for a Ford Fusion sedan.
Idk about this.Would be a bad hire IMO, Venables is a lifelong coordinator type.

especially when you do not have an athletic director yet....
It’s probably the best they could pull off considering. How is Venables a bad hire??? He essentially did what Kirby Smart did: bided his time for the perfect job. Last great defense they had was 2000 from what I can rememberImagine OU finally trying to play defense
Do you think Texas A&M regrets going to the SEC? Have you seen that program in the Big12?Oklahoma will regret going to the $EC (see TAMU).
Yep. That was basically the end of it for them too.Last great defense they had was 2000 from what I can remember
Agreed, he wouldn’t be dominate like he has been at Clemson… he wasn’t before, but he would put together some solid defenses. Well, I take that back. He has a chance bc of them moving into the SECYep. That was basically the end of it for them too.
But I’m sure Veneables would have them respectable on D within 3 years
Money wise absolutely not. But do you think they would’ve joined had UT and OU were already in the SEC?Do you think Texas A&M regrets going to the SEC? Have you seen that program in the Big12?
Bingo.Would be a bad hire IMO, Venables is a lifelong coordinator type.

Fair point, but the quality of the team is better than ever. They may just give their old Big12 rivals a run for their money.Money wise absolutely not. But do you think they would’ve joined had UT and OU were already in the SEC?
SEC is diluting the brand.
