ASU passed on Butch Davis for Herm Edwards?
Big mistake.

I'm sure ASU would be thrilled with the future NCAA sanctions if they hired Butch Davis.
sounds like a whole lot of nothing

Like the ones that that happened before he got here and he still built a dynasty from, or the ones that happened after he left, or the ones happened at UNC from which he was completely exonerated?

Are we talking about the same Butch Davis that told his players that he was coming back? And then took a job with the Browns?

"The “retention” arm of ASU’s plan is not going so well. Edwards started his first official week on the job Monday, and both Napier and Bennett are already gone. Bennett announced on Tuesday that he’d be leaving the team for “personal reasons,” which reportedly include health issues. Edwards promoted Napier to associate head coach last week, but this morning, he left for a much smaller program, as Louisiana-Lafayette announced that Napier will be their new head coach starting next season. Quarterback Manny Wilkins will soon have his fourth offensive coordinator in as many years. Edwards released a statement reassuring ASU fans that he will hire more coaches."

Yeah, unless they were promising Napier a HC in waiting type deal, I don't know why he would stay there?
I think Ray Anderson blew a layup on this situation.
Maybe he was mad at Sumlin for not hiring him as an agent, but that would have been the EASY-button route to go with this hire.
Herm has no specialty that translates to the college game. And he can't "out-motivate" the opposition at a middle of the road P5 program.
If I'm Herm, I hire Jedd Fisch IMMEDIATELY.
