OT: ASU hires Herm Edwards, announces new bizarre structure

sounds like a whole lot of nothing

Working for one of the 15 largest corporations in the world, I am very familiar with this stuff. I need to see the Power Point package, but I am 99.9999% sure this translates into, "we have no frigging idea where to go, and where, who to see, what we are doing or what to do about it. So, we are changing what we call everything, bringing in a guy to blame and fire when it doesn't work, and baffling everyone with bull ****+. .... now if you turn to the next chart......"

Or in common folk terms, WHAT THE HECK!!!!

ASU passed on Butch Davis for Herm Edwards?

Big mistake.

I'm sure ASU would be thrilled with the future NCAA sanctions if they hired Butch Davis.

Like the ones that that happened before he got here and he still built a dynasty from, or the ones that happened after he left, or the ones happened at UNC from which he was completely exonerated?

Are we talking about the same Butch Davis that told his players that he was coming back? And then took a job with the Browns?

Yo, they ALL do that. Can't hold it against a guy for chasing paper. You think before the season Scott Frost told the team at UCF "Hey guys, 100% chance I'm bailing to make $3 million more every year. Remember that."

Every one of these mfers denies everything until the introductory press conference

Wait, general management structure? Like where some suit acts like he knows anything about football and drafts players that are horrible?

That depends. Are we talking about the same Miami Hurricanes that ****ed around with his contract extension until after the Browns offer was set to expire?

, be mad, complain, and try to lump in with scandals he had nothing to do with all you want, but the fact is if Miami would have been willing to give him more than a 1 or 2 year guarantee, we never would have had to suffer through Nevin Shapiro, Larry Coker, Randy Shannon, and Al Golden.

"The “retention” arm of ASU’s plan is not going so well. Edwards started his first official week on the job Monday, and both Napier and Bennett are already gone. Bennett announced on Tuesday that he’d be leaving the team for “personal reasons,” which reportedly include health issues. Edwards promoted Napier to associate head coach last week, but this morning, he left for a much smaller program, as Louisiana-Lafayette announced that Napier will be their new head coach starting next season. Quarterback Manny Wilkins will soon have his fourth offensive coordinator in as many years. Edwards released a statement reassuring ASU fans that he will hire more coaches."

Yeah, unless they were promising Napier a HC in waiting type deal, I don't know why he would stay there?

I think Ray Anderson blew a layup on this situation.

Maybe he was mad at Sumlin for not hiring him as an agent, but that would have been the EASY-button route to go with this hire.

Herm has no specialty that translates to the college game. And he can't "out-motivate" the opposition at a middle of the road P5 program.

If I'm Herm, I hire Jedd Fisch IMMEDIATELY.

Not a bad idea, this is looking like a major disaster. How a school like ASU, basically FSU West, cannot have a better football program boggles the mind. Who's going to go there now as a coordinator?
I'd take a serious look at Kiffen too, really make Herm your "CEO" and hire a head coach.

We’re talking a full on disaster of epic proportions here.

ASU may not win a single game.

It’s just a hunch, but I think it’s going to be that bad.

I like Herm Edwards. But as a goofy entertaining and likable TV personality. His coaching days have long since passed him.

I think they just wanted someone to put it in the heads of the players................"You play to win the game"

i legitimately dont see whats wrong there?. Maybe its because i played college ball and its exactly what every coach says during spring time.

This guy is going to flame out spectacularly. Don't see him being able to relate to kids or being up for the grind of recruiting.
