OT: ASU hires Herm Edwards, announces new bizarre structure

Not sure if you guys can see the video but Herm was apparently unaware the team's name was "Sun Devils" and when a reporter introduced himself from Devil's Digest he asked him where he was from and made a crack about how he was a Christian.

That can't be true...:roll-canes2:

It is, but I watched the video and can't decide if Herm is being serious or not.

That's a bad start, you should be promoting the brand that just hired you and if he's serious what's the the over/under on him making it to the start of next season.

He was serious. That was brutal to watch, like Scott’s Tots

Corch of all corches. The AD was clearly tripping on shrooms when he made this hire. Todd Graham >>>>>>>>>>>> Herm

What's the over/under the Athletic Director is fired? I'd suspect midway through next season. This is like Stanford digging up the near dead in Bill Walsh years ago. Bill Parcells isn't doing anything. Last time he coached college was the USAFA. LoL. **** Vermeil is available as well.

Sounds about right. Although it might depend on how much of a "favor" he's doing them by taking the job as I think it's a Syracuse type situation where an executive took the job. I think the guy is a former agent turned NFL executive. Not sure if he's an alum though like the eSECpn vp that took the Syracuse job.

This is what happens when your former agent becomes the AD, this guys just went and hired his former client Edwards. Wow.

.... liberal dream of an administrative state with loads of bureaucracy to entrench his ideas for years to come. Once implemented, will be hard to get rid off

SAMs are scared of everything. A football coach gets hired at some faraway irrelevant school and they find reason to be scared.

Anyway, Arizona State has been a tease program for as long as I remember. They were an intriguing upstart under Frank Kush 4 or 5 decades ago. Nobody wanted to play them in that Fiesta Bowl, before the Fiesta Bowl became a biggie. Bowden risked it and got beat. Likewise Osborne and Nebraska. Those were famous games at the time, for anyone too young to know. But for the past few decades they have long promised more than they've delivered in the Pac 12, other than the brief period with Plummer and Snyder in the '90s. Dennis Erickson claimed opportunity for a late career national title when he got the Arizona State position. Todd Graham bolted Pittsburgh after one season because he viewed the Sun Devil job at higher upside. There's frequent angst on USC boards about what Arizona State might do. I've long since stopped caring. They'll play weakling early season opponents then mostly wobble around in conference play.

Some Pac 12 teams play legit defense, like Washington right now. Arizona State seldom cares. The past three seasons in my favorite category they have allowed 8.5, 8.8 and 7.5 YPA. So that's Edwards' first challenge. It does fit his playing position.

This is going to be a trainwreck hire.

Arizona State said no thanks Sumlin for this goofball.

This team is going to be 2017 Oregon State by the time Herm is done with them.

I can not see a more accurate assessment on Arizona State on the internet. This is spot on of this school's place historically.

This Corporate lingo is some funny s#%+! Will the team be playing football or writing memos? 🤓

They live in a f**king desert. There ain't no grass. There ain't no water. There ain't no high school football. They will all get the dehydration.

Pretty sure STA lost to a team from AZ this season.

I hope everybody in the ASU athletics department gets the memo that they are putting cover sheets on all the TPS reports before they go out.

The department’s New Leadership Model will be similar to an NFL approach using a general manager structure. It’s a collaborative approach to managing the ASU football program that includes sport and administrative divisions, which will operate as distinct, but collective units focused on elevating all aspects of Sun Devil Football. This structure will allow the department to form a multi-layered method to the talent evaluation and recruiting processes, increase its emphasis on both student-athlete and coach development and retention, and provide a boost in resource allocation and generation.

I read this 5x and still have no idea what they are talking about. What a bunch of word diarrhea.
