OSU OL medically retires due to depression… must watch…

Good for him. It takes a man to make a decision others won't understand.

I played ball with a couple guys, who would practice, train, run, watch film, etc. just to make their family/friends happy. These guys were checked out but, it became a family event to see their games, so they would keep up with everything, even though their hearts were clearly not into it.

Me nore you understands his triggers but when he said wanted to killed himself as a child I assumed he was molested as a child
Not necessarily at all....he could have been unmercifully picked on (very common unfortunately)...I would comment further, but @Brooklyndee pretty much took care of that...and I TOO am an animal guy....Total unconditional Love 100% of the time.

Never be ashamed to talk brother. Keep fighting the good fight and from experience I'd say work your hardest to find a passion or two. There's life beyond sports or anything else as long as you're open to it.
Absolutely, I got my two "nieces" and they honestly kept things going for me, now it's just about putting my friends in positions of success and being that voice if they need

Suicide. Depression. Mental Health. These are more common today than ever, and people don't know how to ask for or even get the help they need. Also, people don't recognize calls for help either. If you've ever said "I wouldn't feel comfortable" to someone, reach out to them ASAP.

People who say 'just suck it up' to mental health issues just don't get it. Life is not the same for everyone. To me it's like metabolism and weight. Some people can eat all they want and never gain any weight.. that's a overly happy person. There are others who eat normally and have a normal metabolism. There are others who have to put in tons of work to keep from gaining weight. Then there are some who no matter how much work they put in gain weight anyway. Some folks have to run **** near a marathon every day just to stay close to normal weight. Imagine having to run a marathon every day just to feel normal. It's a hard fight and it's tiring. If you take a break it all floods in and depression, anxiety, ocd, or whatever it is just takes over and dominates you. It's not a weakness. If you know someone with mental health issues it's a fine line to walk letting them know you love them and are there for them while giving them the space they need to work through it. You can't pick them up and carry them to the finish line, it doesn't work that way. But, you can give them a hand to help themselves to the finish line. Empathy should be the word of the day every day.

Side note: Savanah can get it.
That's an excellent analogy. Depression is very real and can be an intractable for. I know from personal experience. I grew up with a Psychiatrist as a father. However what nobody on the outside knew was that my father suffered from Bipolar Disorder also refered to as manic depression. Talk about a paradoxical environment! That experience was extremely difficult for a young boy who didn't know about any of those things. I bring this up only to show that I can relate to Harry Miller if only in a general sense. I don't know what obstacles Harry had to face growing up and we all have our own demons so to speak.

I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for him to cope with a severe depression while trying to live up to everyone else's expectations in the gigantic pressure cooker that is college football. I sincerely hope that this young man finds his true path in life as it is obvious that that path does not include playing football. I think that with all of the different voices and distractions in life that pull us in so many directions that it becomes very easy to lose oneself and lose sight of who we truly are and in turn what it is that truly makes us ø.,
.. . . . .
.. . . . , ....,. .... . It took guts for Harry Miller to put himself out there for the entire world to see

I think we should make a thread or a forum where we all can talk about this, share experiences or sometimes just vent about stuff, because we all go through ****, but not all of us have someone to talk to.

Brave young man

People my age often criticize the younger generation (I’m 42)

And in many ways sure they ask for it. But they’re dealing with things that we just didn’t have to deal with and there’s no playbook for this

The good news is there’s lots of resources out there now if you’re willing to put yourself out there like this young man did
Their whole lives have played out with social media, demands to be click worthy famous, always in search of notoriety. For many young people they don't know how to unplug and take a break from the online world. It creates so many conflicts in schools and elsewhere.

Says the grown man with a avatar of a children's toy... Some people gravitate towards kids for different reasons and to call a dude a pedo for that alone is border line ****tard ish. Myself I hate people. I'm an animal person. People in large part are phony and only show themselves when it serves them a purpose. You know what people aren't like that? Children. Children haven't yet been tainted by society and if they have they atleast still have hope for something more. They're innocent to a society that destroys everything it contacts. Some people simply need to be reminding everything and everyone in life isn't part of this cess pool we exist in... Bruh be better than that as it's in you. Entertainment isn't that serious that you gotta make a comment like that about a dude just for the purpose of dialogue.

Dee:

You are spot on here. Nicely said.

By the way, you'd be great as one of us white anglo-saxon protestants. "we love animals, we just can't stand people"

Wanted to resurrect this thread and share my cousin’s story. The more it’s discussed the more awareness.

Suffering in silence is NOT ok. This past weekend was rough for our family but we are looking up. RIP Jean
